OMG! You can hear it climbing up! I would have loved to see the climb up and down. Black bears are everywhere here in the Smoky Mountains. Like hungry big goofy dogs. Love them..

That must have been quite a task for the black bear to climb that pole only to find noting worth taking! Glad that the bear didn't take the eggs to! I'm sure of the Osprey had found a nest with baby birds in it, they would not have fared so well!

👍🤚Arlene I already saw a video on this but I am supporting your video. Thanks for taking the time to film and share my friend. Until now I did not know they had bears there. I don’t recall seeing one before but my memory is not as good lol. So glad the Osprey Family didn’t have a fish in that nest or the eggs would have been ruined that bear would have crushed them to get fish. You can clearly see the bear smelling to see if it smelled any food worth going in nest thank goodness he decided to leave. The Os did a great job dive bombing him trying to protect their eggs and nest. I hope he don’t come back or others smell his scent and decide to explore too. Only time will tell. Take care 💕

I was longing for the camera to zoom in on the bear as it wander away in the background in the last minute or so of the video. But it seems that the camera person did not see the bear was there on the ground - no doubt distracted by what a close escape had just occurred. Then again, it seems no one else has commented on the bear walking away nonchalantly...

I still don't understand WHY don't the people in charge place barriers on these poles, trees and other support structures to prevent predators from climbing these nests? I see this over and over across a wide variety of raptor nests and it CAN be avoided.

unbelievable! i can’t believe he was able to climb all the way up there. sounded like King Kong. thank God he didn’t disturb the eggs. or that there weren’t any little ones to be snatched up. has this happened before? will he come back again? it’s so crazy. with all the things these parents have to worry about, you wouldn’t think bear attack would be on the list.
