The best video of this I have seen. Thanks for leaving in everything and leaving out the music. You really captured the challenge and the angle of the steps better than any other video. I didn’t realize how long this section was, but it’s more than just one obstacle. Thank you!

I've done Black Bear Twice. Once on a KLR650 and more recently on a WR250R. What you guys did is NOT easy! I'd never take my T7 here. In fact, me and the T7 got into a pickle on Imogene pass. I sold it soon after. Dealing with a heavy ADV bike on hard trails just isn't fun. Thanks for the vid!

I've been waiting for your second vid ever since watching your accent to the top of Black Bear. I have, like you, watched countless vids on traversing Black Bear and yours is by far the most comprehensive videos I've seen. I used to think it was a piece of cake and I'd have no problem running it, after all I've seen 100 other guys do it! In your first vid you showed me more parts that I'd never saw before and I had some reservations about the whole thing. I just got home from my annual trip to CO where I usually just ride paved roads, this year I took a second bike to ride passes, my first experience was Ophir, followed by Engineer and then on to three or four others that I don't remember or didn't pay any attention to the names. I did OK, had one off on Ophir but otherwise got through all of them. I was at first pissed because they closed Black Bear and Imogene down right after labor day and I couldn't take them, now I'm not so sure someone was watching out for me! I'm just crazy enough to think I can do it cause I've seen other but my 70 year old body sometimes tells me different. I'll make some modifications to my bike and give it a go next year. I don't know how you and others do it on those big/heavy adventure bikes, I'm using a XT250 because I'm not tall and the bike only weighs 300 lbs and I cant still manhandle it easy enough. Thanks a lot, your vid is by far the best/most detailed I've seen on Black Bear, actually taught me to get more prepared then I thought I needed to. Good job to the both of you.

Great video. Really nice job capturing the ACTUAL angle of those steps

Having done Black Bear many times I have to say, you guys definitely took the hard line through the steps. Staying left and riding the gravel next to the foliage is the "easiest" way to get down (if there is such a thing) hahaha. Mad respect guys!

I think you are right. I had no idea the dry rocks would would be that slick. Next time (if there is a next time : ). I will be on something a lot smaller like a 250 or 300.

I also saw Billy Tyo and his son do this pass ( albeit in the rain) I knew immediately I’d never do this on my rally pro or Tenere. I’d have to think on at that altitude on my 300 dirt bike. I’m retirement age too. I really have trouble breathing at that altitude anyway and the Tenere is pretty top heavy and the Triumph is 500 plus with fuel. Both bikes are fantastic at your cross country touring and even pretty gnarly dirt roads. I was sitting here praying you had the Triumph in off road pro so you could lock rear wheel. It would’ve been very easy for one of those behemoths to drag you over the edge. That’s was a great video I guess but not worth it to me. You and Legend were having too much fun on trip to hurt yourself or worse. Sorry I guess I’m a wimp. Good luck on rest of trip guys 👍👍love channel.

NO,you are not a wimp! After watchinig this, most folks , especially with big bikes, would not attempt this ride....more diabolical going downhill than up! For this ride you need a light weight enduro and max protective gear including mx boots and full body armor...a very spicy ride.

I just wanna hi-five the Legend for having Taylor Swift on!! Probably gave him an extra push to get this pass completed!! Love it, great job guys!!

I’m 71 years old and have done Black Bear many times, but on an old dirt bike, 1993DR350. Those are big bikes, but you done good. Your quote at the start of the video is by Helen Keller.

You fellas are double tough!!! Dang! 😃😃😃 And, yeah, you have no idea how steep it is watching video. If it looks even a tiny bit sloped on video, you know it’s gnarly. And it’s just plain hard to catch your breath when you’re up that high. You guys rock! 😃

Me neither, we said never again. My goal in the video series was to discourage folks. I think too many videos act like its not a big deal. We learned the hard way. I'm going back out in August of 2025 but using my Husqvarna FE501s. I think it will be tons more fun doing all the passes on a bike that weighs 260 lbs not 500lbs.

Wow! This is some intense turrain you guys were going through. I'm glad you guys made it through ok. This looks like some major "type 2" kind of fun. Absolutely gorgeous though.

A little quicker would be easier to handle. Front wheel gave out bc it was going so slow and braking in loose terrain.

I have a 2019Africa Twin a brand new Tenere 700 and a 2020DRZ400 SM but I think a small bike would be better. It hurts less when you crash. Crazy trail for sure. Great views but not safe.

Ha Ha. This is local to me so I've ridden it a bit over the years and has earned its reputation for being intimidating. Vid was good but I think the edge is even more dramatic in person. You could tell when it 'got real' for them and had a legitimate fear of losing life or limb. But, you made it thru and probably learned a bit while doing it. That 'oh sh**' tension is real - I felt it doing BB w/ snow on it in a Jeep. Enough of that.
