"Blazers" have been a staple in my wardrobe since High School - even wearing mens'. The material is the most important, of course, because depending on the season. Navy blue linen or LIGHT wool (one guy goofed on me and telling people my blazer was polyester. Went back to him and showed him the wool mark. There are "those"..., and even if it is, what's it to you?? ), with shorts, white blazer with black bottoms - shorts for summer and loafers, waist length soft leather jacket with mid- calf skirt - Pin stripe, pastel colored striped or white button down man-tailored shirts. Braided leather suspenders found in thrift store. Classics are staples because classics are always "classic". As long as you can carry the look, you can wear it. We used to wear longer grey wool shorts with knee socks and a blazer, knock out shades and a good matching shoulder bag. I've been using this one Capezio black shoulder bag for almost twenty years and at one time I weighed it because I literally carried EVerything - soap, washcloth and small towel, makeup - it weighed 5 lbs. If leather bags start to wear, as I'm pretty hard on my bags, give them a swipe of shoe polish, the sponge express kind (hint, $8 in Walgreens, $2 in Family $). Fashionistas stay hip‼❣

V neck sweaters look great on us older gals - just turned 64, and we can show younger gals a thing or two. Have two sleeveless v necks in a lighter blue and creamsickle orange. Go great under a lightweight blazer, shorts and navy blue blazer is fine‼

All the outfits are beautiful. We here in Toronto are under a major lockdown. We don’t go outside very much. Do you have these inside? I could but seems a little bit restrictive, no matter how smart it looks. I hope I do not have to wait until the pandemic is over before I can draw on your wonderful ideas

I wear a lot of white, including trousers, and don’t have too much trouble keeping it clean, but I try to buy pieces that are washable. Many of my blazers, for example, are washable knit ones (dry flat), which are much more comfortable and practical, but still give the tailoring of a blazer, and are slightly more casual for my California community. I don’t order drippy pasta, etc. , when eating out in my white outfits, or my white/light silk tops, they stain easily and can’t be laundered as vigorously or effectively.

I got some silk/viscose (60/40, I think) knit slips from Amazon and they are so comfortable, weightless and breathable that I can sleep in them. They work great under silk/silky skirts and slip dresses. Unfortunately, they don’t work for every outfit because the neckline is a bit too high, it’s more of a U-shape than a V-neck, but they do “save” a lot of too-thin, clingy or sheer clothes, and hide most panty lines. It’s a great start, still looking for some V-necks and half-slips, the ones I have are ancient. The place I bought silk lingerie from closed decades ago, sadly, I so miss silk pantyhose!

I guess it depends on your point of view. Black is ultra chic and goes with everything. It's also the ultimate power color. As for aging, it can be, but at 66 I'm more concerned with becoming invisible than looking my age (which is going to happen anyway; I wouldn't be fooling anyone just by wearing navy).

Wide leg trousers look horrible if you are a larger size. You can reason it away but in the end it still looks bad.

Sorry love..But the black blazer in summer looks just way too heavy. Tried to wrap my head around a black blazer in summer maybe going out to dinner on a outdoor patio would be ok with me. But I've had all my pastel and white blazers on ice all winter and I love wearing themWhen the occasion arises. So unfortunately I will have to let my black blazers hang in the closet till fall. I like a lighter and airier look in spring and summer. Just a personal preference 😊
