Most of Season 1 andSeason 2(Demon Ciel ending) are anime originals, they are not compliant to the manga. The first few episodes, and some in between are in the manga, but some scenes are changed. Like during Ciel and her Aunt was talking, and he answered something something family, I can't remember exactly but it's different in the manga. If you don't want to be confused, just read the all of the manga chapters, or Focus on Black Butler: Book of Circus, Book of Murders and Book of Atlantic. They are very much canon.

Season 2 is basically an alternate timeline lmao- it’s a cool idea in theory but it’s not canon to the manga, shame cause some characters were very much interesting, but whatever. I like to think of it as the alt universe where Ciel really lost his shit lol
