You missed the point. Asta need to reveal his black mode to proof that the devil truly exists. So that he could become the scapegoat. If he doesn't, Marie would be killed and the entire magic knights will be held responsible. In which will lead to Clover kingdom being attacked by other kingdom, just like what Julius said. Either that, or a situation where Asta would resists without revealing devil's power, be killed in the name of justice, and since he didn't prove that the devil truly exists, the entire magic Knight will also be punished. Total meltdown of the kingdom's army. That's why Julius said "clover kingdom will be under attack, or asta dies, or both"

No matter how many times I rewatch this episode, it still does not make any sense. out of all the people to trial, Marie? Bro compared to others that got possessed, Marie is the most hard to notice, and shes a child. Many magic knights wreck havoc around the kingdom, and some nobles should at least see them doing those things especially the golden dawn. Almost all of their members got possessed, so people should see them, but no, instead they blame Marie. And in those times when the capital is in chaos, where is this House of Lira to help? maybe is hiding along with other nobles.
