In the black & white version, the only other color that could be seen throughout most of the OP was the red in the eyes of the Devil, Asta and Nero/Secré, all characters that use/used outworldly magic. Same goes now to Zeno. That's a really cool detail carried in both versions.

Head canon: Asta runs in the opening to show just how inverse it is to the previous version. 1) Asta is the opposite of Patri in every way. A human with no magic vs an elf with a four leaf grimoire so he runs the opposite direction. 2)Patri is alone. He cast aside the allies he made(the Midnight Sun) where Asta continued to make new friends and they’re all behind him. 3) Asta doesn’t stop going. He refuses to give into despair unlike Patri who did and became a Dark Elf and stops to cry in the other versions. 4) Well I guess this last one is obvious but unlike version 1 & 2 everything is colorful. Classic anime trope of running across the screen or not it actually does have an interesting purpose
