And that's cool, but make a blanket generalization about all rap music is not right. Also if you want to act like you the voice for all black people then don't be out here being being a hypocrite and spreading falsehoods. Brandon is not the great messiah of black people he portrays himself to be. He's out here creating children out of wedlock, lying about his upbringing, I can go on and on. I'm 43. I've been a DJ, and promoter in hip-hop forever. Music does affect your emotions. And a lot of rap music is poison. Pill popping, degrading women, drug dealing, name brand buying, fellow black man killing music. FACTS! There is some music that is positive but the majority is not. When I put on the pop station 99.9% of the music is happy and fun. If you disagree count the amount of negative rap song you hear vs positive ones on the urban station per day then reply to my comment.

We live in a hypersensitive era of content in general. There are no avenues to express yourself where a presence of backlash or negativity won’t be too far behind. Hip hop for many people was not to promote violence or rape culture but to display feeling of expressions that were unique on a beat or even acapella in some cases. Being able to create pictures , visions with WORDS. Nowadays if I find in the gallery 80% of the paintings all display the same picture just with different shades of paint why stay? Why allow my eyes to focus on one set of artists when they’re are many artists who’s talent is actually worth the ticket.

And you can be as knowledgable as possible, you will still be affected emotionally. That goes for all music. That's why music is so powerful! If you listened to rap music that says "f the police", do you think you'll have a happy attitude if you see a white cop just walking the street? Tell them man and the people that overexaggerate and say "90-95%" of hip-hop is bad obviously don't listen to "hip-hop" as a whole. Mainstream media does not depict everyone's side and intellect. I'm finishing up college, worked multiple jobs, love music and rap on my spare time as well; it's an art form. Some choose to do with it one way, other's the opposite. If brother in this video said what he said in a different manner, it would have made more sense; but it's obvious he wasn't a critical thinker and was/is easily influenced in the past/present (hence not a good trait).
@suedecomponent8931
@suedecomponent8931 5 жыл бұрын
Shawn Orjiakor It's not laziness, it's a lack of interest in positive hip hop. Most people listen to rap for the negativity. Hell, there's a reason why in the annuls of hip hop we often downplay the impact and skill level of more positive and fun rappers. Even the impact of ATCQ was starting to be ignored by the late 90's and the 00's. They've just more recently, over the last few years began to be once again recognized for how great they were and many other positive rappers are still largely ignored and devalued. Hell, Ghostface is probably one of the most consistent emcees ever in terms of making good albums, most will agree he never made bad albums, but the only album does isn't shown respect is the one where he made all love tracks, but the ones where it's almost entirely about guns and drugs are beloved. This Bandon Tatum, conservative guy is an example of many hip hop fans, only interested in the more negative aspects of it.

Listen to what most of secular rap is talking about? Kill a nigga, get selling drugs and a lot of cursing in it. Not too mention explicit sexual language. Let’s examine history. Black music history specifically. Sex has always been apart of Black music because it is life. However , what is being played on the air today you did not here that on regular radio. You had to go to clubs ,adult night clubs after midnight clubs. The movie “Cadillac Records” illustrated that for about 15 seconds in the movie .

You have no issue with Elvis. Gary Glitter. The Beatles. Robin Thick’s Blurred Lines. That song Shadow where the dude singing is talking about being with a 14 year old. Young Girl by Gary Puckett. My Sharona also about lusting after young girls. Midnight Rambler is about a serial killer. Jethro Tull’s Aqualung is also about little girls. George Michael sung a song about being touched by his father figure and liking it. Neil Diamond Girl you’ll be a woman soon plus Sweet Caroline was about an 11 year old. Ted Nugent’s Jailbait. Kristine Sixteen by Kiss. Stray Cat blues is just one Rolling Stone song about doing drugs. They also had a song about slave owners assaulting their female slaves. Motörhead had a song called Jailbait. Winger did too. Bad Company’s song cant get enough is about refusing to stop when a woman says no. Ringo Star’s You’re Sixteen. Billion Dollar Babies by Alice cooper has lines about infants... I’m not even going to finish that. Mellow Yellow is about eight graders. Gary Pucketts Young Girl. Do I seriously need to name more? None of these songs are an issue though? You want to single out Hip Hop. Typical. But you’re not prejudice...👍🏾
