as much as I want him to stay, I can understand how performing this album is hard for Isaac. In every performance of Basketball Shoes I've seen, Isaac is on the verge of tears screaming the last lyrics. It's incredibly powerful, but I can see how that displaying that level of vulnerability to a larger audience than ever can be very hard on his mental health. Sad to see him go but I respect his decision :c

Part I [Verse 1] I have this dream about Charli XCX Finding her way to me on a train From the London Eye to the Big Ben She knows who I am She's studied my prose She's read all of my texts I've died like 15 times inside just watching her undress [Verse 2] She grows like my mother with the same warm brow Like childhood holidays gone I say something weightless like "Where the hell did you fall from?" But she understands me Looks at me with wide еyes like she's found God again Shе's in soft focus all around me I can't see the football game On my dad's sofa We are still And we never look at our phones anymore Part II [Verse 3] I can't think of anything better Than your hands on my sweater Drown in me like boyfriend jeans I shouldn't have wrote you that letter Believe me, I'll try to be better Wearing me Charli, in dreams Oh! I should not have wrote you that letter Believe me I'm tryin' to be better Wearing me Charli, in dreams Oh Charli Oh Part III [Chorus] In my bedsheets, now wet Of Charli, I pray to forget In dreams, my face still in your breast Oh, your generous loan to me Your crippling interest In my bedsheets, now wet Oh Charli, I pray to forget In dreams my face still in your chest Oh, your generous loan to me Your crippling interest

Dawg idk how I didn’t realize this the first like thousand times I watched this but I think the final like VERY final chorus at like 13:10 is completely improvised by Isaac. After the beautiful noisy wall he looks up at everyone and hits the massive low D chord and starts singing again, and everyone else looks at him like “oh shit we’re goin again?” Like Charlie’s drums even take a second to get in the tempo again bc he wasn’t expecting it, but they still all come back in to make it again and it sounds so so so beautiful. Idk why but like this adds soooo much to this performance for me like damn they really can read off of each other so fuckin well. Continually impressed Everytime !!:!:&8:9/022”202

Isaac actually talked about this exact performance with Britt Walford in some interview. I remember him saying that he doesn't like this last bit and actually finds it a little bit emberrasing. look up ninja tune podcast with bcnr. they're talking about it at around 46:14 if anyone's interested.

How are people TALKING during this?
@iawnlad4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, that person talking is me the lady in the front row asked me why I was laughing and it was because I was trying to signal my friend to tell him this is my fave song of theirs and everyone was looking at me apart from them. Idk who the other people are talking way after though

Personally I love it, it gives it atmosphere the people taking, the guy whistling, and some coughs. Nowadays live performances are so well recorded that it sometimes looses that human factor and connection with the people that are there with the musicians

What an amazing performance! I heard in an interview the rest had no idea Isaac would go into the final section again I'm surprised how fast they locked into it again.
