had this problem many times before, common fault with merc engines. I generally run engine up to temperature before attempting to remove the injector then use a lever under the hex at the top while turning the injector left and right only by about an 1/8 inch as I'm levering, this helps the injector to come out. the carbon is easily cleaned off once the worst has been chipped off by soaking with cellulose thinners, this includes soaking a rag and pushing it into the injector housing with a flat head screwdriver (carefully mind) and turning it so that the rag and thinners clean the injector walls. It really does work and works well

I did other 2 injectors, 2 and 3 recently. Exactly the same procedure. Worked really well. Just for injector 2-3 i had to remove windscreen wipers all that above engine as there is not enough room.

I have never done this before. It took me longest to clean black carbon deposits, few hours approximately. To take injector out and put it back in it was easiest part of the job. I don't think it took me 45min. Heating the copper i did as i though it will make it softer little bit so it sits nicely. It has been few months now Vito running perfectly. Thanks for watching.

Put thick grease on end of the cutting tool makes mess but smoother cut plus catches the aluminium flakes 👍

top tip go steady at it, about 7 hours was lucky no 1 injector

Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what size is the wrench to remove the bolt holding the injector? Its a 6mm bolt but has torx head, what is the size of wrench that fits that?

T-40 Clearance is tight, but a hex bit on an extension worked for me.

Common fault. I had exactly the same "black death", used screwdriver very carefully to clean all the crap up and used lots of brake cleaner and compressed air. Finally loosened the injector and fuel line and by engine compression the injector came loose. Cleaned the injector and sanded the injector seat, a new copper washer and that was it. It's been about 3 weeks since that and the smell is gone now, a lot quieter also.

same issue i am dealing with for a family members Merc 112Cdi The “black death” carbon deposits are everywhere. How Did you manage to clean the injector wiring enough to unplug and re plug it without breaking?

I used oven cleaner, 5min one. That seems to work the best. There are probably better products out there for that stuff.

when the diezel fumes come in the cabin, direkt check the injektors, then you are probleby on time, do not drive 10k, further , then it has that black stuf al over the engine.

Great video, only one question. When tightening the 6mm bolt i think that after 7nm you have to do two times 90 degrees?

Better put M8 non strech bolt with helicol (25Nm), like the vw T4, did this mod 2 years ago, still good

your torque spec is outdated now it is 7nm +90 +90.you didnt had to cut the old seating, just clean it very good with scotch brite, blowing air and patience.good it turned out OK. cheers

+TheEdudo I did 3 injectors with 7nm + 90 degree turn and works fine. Like if it sits correctly it sits. You will not stop pressure tightening it better. In my opinion doing another 90 is risky, depends probably how good threads of bolt hole are. If you stuff it up bit job to fix it.

Cleaning takes most of the time. And pulling out injectors unless you have a good tool to pull them out.

A special Mercedes tool is better which is a rod with a wire brush on the end .it also has sealing plugs which go into injector orifice to stop crud going into the engine combustion chamber.

@@ub40time I will have a look tomorrow. It was a while ago and it is a genuine Mercedes part .The type of puller will depend on the engine. I ended up using a slide hammer type .They are a bit stubborn especially if you have loads of gunky carbon build up like I did around the cylinder head.This needed scraping away first.It is better to use the correct tool to block injector hole when cleaning the seat.

watch youtube video about how to remove injectors type (HANET ingenious Injector Puller)far the video. after removing injector use copper washer cast £1 if you don't have special extracting tool use large flat head screw driver and lift injector using lever method.if your car engine is hot its easy to pull injectors

Absolutely, the blow by gasses mean you are loosing compression

had same problem with a sprinter, they worked 1 week and 2 days on it, they couldn't get it done, when I said that they should heat up the new copper washer they started laughing like two idiots :D

@@BACOVIDEOS Sometimes MB plant would fix problems on assembly lines. That is a great inlin 6 engine the 350 BT diesel ended up being a disaster V6

Nooooo. Do not use oven cleaner on aluminium. You will destroy it. If you doubt that test it on some aluminium foil so you can see evidence. I tried to clean my cooking pans once and had to throw them all away because of oven cleaner.

Not too bad, just don't leave it to dry on vehicle. Wash off with lots of water.
