Lady, You are a Bad MAMA JAMA!! LOL. You would be a good person to teach a tools class: to BOTH men and women. Convert your barn /shed/garage into a teaching space, Require every student to bring their gloves and goggles. I didn't grow up learning to use tools. My learning was self-taught. I feel I missed a lot.

I had one many many years ago, in the early 2000's here in the UK. Looks the same and I recognise the battery so I'm pretty sure it's the same. They were called the black and decker firestorm if I recall correctly. Good drill. Used mine heavily at my job and it did well for many years. Good tool.

Thanks for watching and for sharing your history with this make of drill. They are a good drill, still using mine with no problems so far. I think you are right about the name Firestorm too. 😀👍🏻

Just a quick YMMV warning! I bought one of these a few years back, and I never got more than about 20 minutes battery power out of it, and after topping up the battery 7-8 times, I sunk to about 5 minutes. It's good to hear that other folks have had better experiences than I did.

+Mike Gray Sorry to hear you got a bum battery, a bum drill or both. That sucks - I hope you took it back for a refund. I have never had a problem with this one (still have it BTW). Thanks for your comments about your experience. 😊😀

Unfortunately, no - I didn't go for a refund. I didn't have the receipt, and I'd used the drill a fair bit by the time I realized that I just wasn't getting good performance. Mind, I bought it on sale with a heavy discount from a local hardware store (in Switzerland), and I'm wondering whether they were selling off a model with a weaker-than-normal battery. I've heard that the companies will sometimes market a super-cheap version that usually has a sub-standard battery.

It’s a great drill. B & D makes a smaller one, too. I bought one for my DIL too

I have that same B&D 14.4V H1 and I am very happy with mine. My question is, will that machine work with a 18V H2 B&D battery, when what is has now is a B&D 14.4 H1 battery?

do you have a video on how to use the bit to drill a hole in the top of a table for an umbrella? I have the tools, it's been a few years since I've used it and need a refresh, thanks
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard Жыл бұрын
No, sorry I don’t have a video like that but it would be easy enough to do. Mark the middle of the table with a dot. I would suggest using a small drill bit to start with to make a pilot hole so that the bigger drill bit doesn’t skate off the dot and you wind up not centered . Go slow at first until the drill bit bites in then switch to a larger drill bit that matches the diameter of your umbrella pole and use that to push through the table. Remember go slow at first and increase speed and pressure once things are going well. Good luck 🤞🏻 I know you can do this! Hope this helps. 🤓

Hi, thanks for watching and for leaving me such a great comment. Yes, my Black and Decker drill is still running. I have never had a minutes trouble with it - mind you I just use it around the house, it is not put under any kind of major torture only average homeowner usage. Bravo for you rebuilding tools...that is the only way to make them last and last. Well done Sir. It sounds like you have some nice equipment there. 😁👌

Very good review. I just had one given to me along with the battery. I purchased the battery charger at Lowe's for a little over $6. It was 75% off online. I don't know if the battery is still good or the drill but they look to be almost brand new. The owner lost the charger when she moved. Time will tell if everything works or not. I don't use a drill very much so I don't need one of those overpriced drills like a DeWalt or Milwaukee. They are good for the contractors that use them everyday but for folks like you and me, this one will be fine.

Thank you very much! I still really like and use this drill...plenty of power for everyday home owner use. It is also nicely balanced in the hand. =) Thanks for watching.

Charge 4 hours How long you have power?
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the view and your excellent question. When this drill was new a 4 hour charge would power the drill for over a day of usage. Now that it is older I would say that same 4 hour charge would probably last for your project you need the drill for but it would need charged again. That is just the battery showing its age and nothing to do with the quality of the drill though. :)

You didn't explain how to charge it 😔
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 2 жыл бұрын
That is simple and intuitive. The charger for the battery is a flattish piece with a cord that plugs into the wall. When the battery is released from the drill you slide the charge “plate” onto the battery and plug it in. If I remember correctly the light goes out when it is charged. Hope that helps. ☺️

Hye. It is Ni-cd or Ni-mh or Li-ion type battery??
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Mr Yolo, the battery on this drill is a NiCd. It is still going even now although I prefer the lighter weight batteries on my new drill that is Li-Ion. Thanks for watching and for leaving me your great question. I appreciate your support. 😁👌

Susan Millard is your ni-cd battery in the video still in good condition?? How many year battery will last?? I have the same drill with same ni-cd battery type, buy an old stock with new condition cause it cheap😅😅😅
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 7 жыл бұрын
Sadly, no, the ni-cd battery is not in good condition anymore. It takes nothing to wear it out. It lasted me a good three and a half to four years from new. 🙄

Get yourself a milwaukee or a dewalt, stop wasting your money on black and decker.
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 10 жыл бұрын
I would get a Milwaukee but I don't use it enough to justify the extra expense. The B & D is a good drill to have for the uses I have for it. I have never had one issue with my drill in the years I have owned it. I would not give you a wooden nickle for a Dewalt but to each his own I guess. Thanks for the view and your comment. =) Have a good day.
