Hi guys! I got the simplified diagram for a Black & Decker drill I hope this can help you in repairing Black & Decker drills.

About the two marked segments, it is shorted upon testing through a multi-meter. However it does not mean its not usable, with some modification on the connections it will function like a normal commutator. I will talk about it in a future video.

Hello Jim, well there are quite a lot of possible explanations. 1. Is maybe the connection on the segments and the wires are erroneous. 2. The commutator may be shorted (have you checked them one by one through a multi-tester?). 3. It may have a shortage in the windings. 4. The field coil wire and the armature wire may not be compatible (the field coil is always 3 number lower (means larger in diameter) than the armature coils. example if you use a number 30 on the armature, the field coil must be 27).

By number 30 I meant a diameter of 0.2546mm and by number 27 a diameter of 0.3606mm

Probably use swg 25 or 26 with 130 or 150 turns for the field coil, while the armature coil 28 or 29 with 22 or 24 turns. Adjust the number of turns if needed.
