The bit where the actor gets accidentally slapped and replaced mid-action scene is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in a movie.

For me, the movie peaked at the pimp meeting scene, so many great lines and actors. “But Black Dynamite, I sell drugs to the community!” Also, that kick at 11:37 is unironically fantastic.

@cozhog5268 did you know he originally wrote that character for Eddie Murphy? He wanted Eddie and Arsenal in the movie but Eddie refused it. THen a few years later ended up doing Dolemite.

I swear one of my favorite characters was the guy constantly reading the stage directions out loud 🤣. That scream he made when he got killed by the pitchfork is top 5 lmao
@TheGoodChap
@TheGoodChap Жыл бұрын
It took me way too long to get that joke where he says "sarcastically I'm in charge!" Where sarcastically is supposed to be a stage direction lol they crammed every possible joke you could imagine in. They even have the guy at the beginning who says "I ain't no snitch" who's clearly Shakespearean trained or a community theatre actor
@devinthierault

@@TheGoodChapin the 70s a lot of stage actors were hired for Blaxploitation movies. The snitch and "I sell drugs to the community" lol
@TheGoodChap
@TheGoodChap 4 ай бұрын
@@devinthierault for sure, that goes for a lot of b movies too The most extreme imo is the witch lady in troll 2. A director has to immediately beat that out of a stage actor because on stage you need people in the nosebleeds to see your facial expressions but on film it's the complete opposite but it's a funny detail

1:21 "you gonna wake up the other bitches" BRILLIANT.. 2:04 Black Dynamite is the king of monologues... 3:02 Him not able to hang up the phone was great... 5:38 One of the best bits of any movie ever made... 6:05 Salli Elise Richardson-Whitfield CONTINUES to be the hottest thing on two legs to this day... 7:41 The incredulous doctor was great..."I mean, Black Dynamite, REALLY?" 7:51 Salli's hair is amazing... 9:10 The pimp conference was so dang good...Especially Chocolate Giddiyup, and Captain Kangaroo Pimp... 10:23 "My momma said my daddy's name is Black Dynamite" "My momma too..." 14:50 The Fiendish Dr. Wu is almost as good as it gets... 16:24 I use "I threw that shit before I walked into the room!" way too often... 17:24 Of course it was Richard Nixon...And it had to end with a nunchuck fight in the White House...

If you look into it Black Dynamite does riffs on classic Blaxploitation movies Three The Hard Way, Willie Dynamite Pimp council (The real one is just as hilarious.) Dolomite, Avenging Disco Godfather, Black Belt Jones (my cookie will kill you) And many more. It is a brilliant parody.

This is, honestly, the funniest damned film I've ever seen and my favourite comedy/spoof. In fact, it's actually getting a spiritual sequel this year titled The Outlaw Johnny Black, which will take aim at westerns rather than blaxploitation, and you know I'll be there to watch it! So... What is your favourite part of the film? "I threw that shit before I walked in the room!"? The pimp meeting? The sight gags like the random Boom Mic? The hilarious montage where BD cleans up the streets with a song literally describing what happens in the background? The surprise final fight? The _entire_ Anaconda Malt Liquor twist? So many great moments and quotes! It even gained an adult animated TV show spin-off which avoided falling into the pitfalls of most 2010s/2020s adult animation because it was made with most of the same cast and crew as the film.

There are so many little things in this movie that are hilarious. For example, him hanging up the phone after doing kung fu practice because he doesn't want to hear her and also messing it up a few time before getting it.

I concur: his eyes flutter nervously as he handles the nunchuks; continuously describing the boy as Chinese in his Vietnam war memory; the cauc bad guy who forgets to put the car in "P" as he jumps out to join the gunfight, and it takes off so he has to run back to it; the convo with the Madam where, in some shots, she has a tear on her cheek, then in the next, she doesn't...clever "goofs". Love that lo-fi cheap 70's look, the hilarious clothes (and how serious the ATTITUDE about how you look was), and the righteousness of his purpose vs his smooth, sexy hunkiousness

"Im blacker than an ace of spades and more militant than you and your whole movement combined. So whenever you want to start your little revolution let me know and Ill be out front leading the way. But until then, shut the fuck up when grown folks is talking!" "Im sorry" That scene absolutely killed me when I first seen it. Also when he throws the boomerang blade before he walks in the room lol

There's actually an alternate cut out there (and also in my room) which I believe was what was originally shown at Sundance before release, that's only slightly different, but I think is a bit funnier. Biggest difference is them not asking if/killing Bullhorn, and a different montage during "Cleaning Up The Streets". The rest is slightly different editing here and there.

I'll take this over "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" not only because it's rated R so it can be more authentic to the originals, but I think it's funnier. There's also a Black Dynamite animated series that ran several seasons on Adult Swim which has MJW voicing BD.

I might be in the minority,but I think Undercover Brother is superior. That movie has so many rapid fire classic lines that I quote to this day. "In order to pass in WHITE AMERICA you must learn to like MAYONAISE!" "That's too much WHITE,for one Brotha to take" "It's time to say goodbye to ANTON JACKSON... And say WHAT IT IS....TO UNDERCOVER BROTHA" "BLACKNESS CONFIRMED: YOU GOT SOUL."
