This is basically the beginning of what you should expect from Always Sunny. You’ll even see some references to these plots later on, not to spoil anything. You got the backstory, and now you’re officially getting started.

“I’m gonna play video games ‘til my eyes bleed” was a much better plan. If you’re doing good in the game, you’re doing good in life. ✌️

Margot getting off the bus to the Nico song is what hooked me. And the Needle in The Hay scene catapulted the movie right into the stratosphere. Being able to put some of the most heartfelt moments ever filmed into quirky character comedies is something special.

I love Wes Anderson movies and "The Royal Tennenbaum's" is probably my favorite.
@angelagraves8654 сағат бұрын
I really like this movie and agree that Gene Hackman is the standout performance, although I thought everyone was great. Gene Hackman was also in a movie called Heartbreakers, with Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ray Liotta, that he was hilarious in. I also loved him in The Birdcage. He's the perfect straight guy. I agree that The Grand Budapest Hotel is great, in fact, I think it's almost perfect. Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom is another really good one. 🖖🏽

This has always felt like the most "Wes Anderson-y" Wes Anderson film to me. Not necessarily his greatest, but the probably best example of his style.

Royal Tenenbaum is one of my favorite characters in anything ever. He really is a son of a bitch. Gene Hackman absolutely stole this whole movie, and probably should have won the Oscar. He wasn't nominated (it's criminal that Sean Penn and Will Smith were nominated ahead of him), even though he won a Golden Globe for it. Denzel won that year, and while he is a great actor, Training Day is a mid movie at best and his performance in it was wildly, unbelievably overrated. It was a make-up award for him getting snubbed on Malcolm X and Hurricane, both of which he absolutely 100% should have won (he lost to Pacino in 1993 when he was getting his make-up award for an overrated performance in a bad movie, and to Spacey in 2000 when for some unknown reason everyone thought American Beauty was good). Anyway that's a little mini rant on how ridiculous Oscars are.

"It's all his fault" Again, SUCH good writing and acting from Mads, because you feel for Hannibal when he's upset, but also.......... Who out all these pieces in place, my guy?? You did, you idiot!!! I love it! "Intimate" is RIGHT. That stabbing is somehow *tender*! WHAT a show!

I liked how you differentiated between unbelievable in real life and unbelievable in this feverdream of a show, because you do have to! 😂 The show is so over the top ridiculous and no one acts like real life, and that's what makes it fun, but you do have to think about it with that in mind!

This is at the lower end of Anderson films for me as well, I also felt a lack of focus somewhere and personally I wasn't into the incesty romance it was still too strange for me. Definitely agree he got better at his craft later with films like Grand Budapest Hotel (which is his best film by far). Life Aquatic is very similar to this with similar themes and that kind of wild all over the place plot but I felt Life Aquatic did it slightly better.

I've never understood the love for Grand Budapest. I don't even have it in the top 5. I know Bottle Rocket isn't the best, but it is still my favorite. I want one of those jumpsuits. Having said that, I think I have seen Royal more than any of the others. I've probably seen it a lot more than any other Wes film.

@@JimmyMacram Lol. I don't dislike it. It is just well below most of his other films. I heard terrible things about French Dispatch and Asteroid City so I still need to see those to rank all of his movies, but at the moment Grand is only above Darjeeling and Moonrise. Top 5 being Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, Royal, Life Aquatic and Mr Fox. It took a few viewings of Aquatic for me to like it so I'll give Grand another try.

People seem to forget how shitty Howard was to Kim before she left for Schweikart, even after she secured Mesa Verde. It was Chuck intervening that finally got her out of doc review, and she was still treated like garbage. Fuck Howard.
@JimmyMacram9 сағат бұрын
idk what this is in relation to but none of what Howard did to the GOAT should be reciprocated for with the season 6 scheme. Bowling balls and hookers at lunch is more than enough for Howard's dickishness to Kim. And certainly not a bullet.
@Loked4209 сағат бұрын
@JimmyMacram I've been watching a lot of reactions to this season recently, and have just noticed a lot of people treating Howard like he's just a perfectly nice man who's never harmed anybody, when he actively tried to torpedo Kim's career. It just seems like a lot people forget why Kim would have negative feelings towards the man. I'm obviously only talking about what's happened up to this point though.
@JimmyMacram9 сағат бұрын
Gotcha. I'd only correct to say he actively torpedo'd Kim's career, not that he was trying to do that. He was just petulantly punishing her, but I take the point.

The side characters end up becoming some of the most memorable of the bunch, and that's saying a lot with such a wide variety in the main cast! Glad you're enjoying the show so much already! It only gets better from here!

Something I find amazing, and such a testament to the writing and Mads' work as an actor, is that in all the murdering and eating, you're behind Hannibal, you're on his side before this. The audience enjoys it with him! We're pulled in by his charms. And then Beverly. When he prepares *her* kidney, it's like all of the being caught up in him falls away, and he's just a monster again who killed our friend. It's so well done!!

That shot of Beverly turning on the lights, revealing Hannibal behind her is SO GOOD! I hate what happens, but it is incredible. After the first episode impression, I'm so glad you started to like her, she's great!

I’ve gotta say, I really like your format. The way you do two episodes in one go in the beginning of a series. It really helps with these shows that have all the character building for the first couple seasons. Thanks!
