I grew up learning about this amazing explorer and proud to say he is indeed an important aspect of our Alaskan history!

Why have I only just found out about this man in 2023 after listening to a radio 4 UK programme about him ? Why haven't I heard about him before? Disgraceful. What a great man who should be as famous as Scott or Amundsen or any other original explorer, there's a movie here waiting to be made 👍

Didn’t even know there was a black population in Alaska. That’s dope. What’s the population of blacks over there like and are they within the same area?

one of the best examples of a great man... have always admired him so much, what he has accomplished, especially in such a harsh environment, was truly amazing. without his skills, the pole would have been met years later. ultimate badass!

It is saddening that this is not automatically embedded in the standard curriculum for students. We need more content told from our perspective. Thank you.

I was born 3 blocks from Mathew Henson Street in Norfolk Virginia in an African-American neighborhood named Titustown. I was a grown man before I new who this man was and what he accomplished. I'm 76 years old and there was no Black history taught in school back in the day and no one ownedva computers.
