BLACK FLAGGED for FWD Drifting!? - Clio 197 vs 306 GTi6 at Oulton Park

Our first trackday of 2019 was at a very cold and very slippery Oulton Park. Running semi-slicks on both the 306 GTi-6 and Clio 197, it was almost impossible to get any heat in to the tyres so we spent the majority of the day having a load of fun trying our best to tame the oversteer. Evidently the track marshals didn't think that we did a very good job...

- ITG intake, Milltek exhaust, remap
- Eibach Pro-Street S Coilovers
- MRF ZTR semi-slicks
Peugeot 306 GTi6
- Standard engine
- KW coilovers up front & Bilstein 205 Group A dampers paired with 21mm torsion bars at the rear
- Nankang AR1s

The hard part about FWD drifting is how quick the car straightens out when the rear wheels snap into grip again. If you're not ready for it you'll spin out the other way instantly.

that's why you should have your hand on a handbrake just in case this hapens you can quickly break traction

That's more just because of the short wheelbase and lack of weight in the rear

I was just thinking about the dash. I love how driver-centric it is. The Clio by comparison looks awkward with half of the dash oriented for a passenger that isn't there.

Asgardium - Tomclanys most tracks have rules against drifting on track days I don’t know about alton park but on the nordschleife its not allowed

@@cattcameo not at all, all track days ive been to have been strict on drifting, im surprised they got away with it for so long, some tracks run specific drift day or otherwise specialist tracks. The rubber from the tires sticks to the track, so when it rains it causes standing water making it like driving on ice and ruins the track for proper races. The lower quality the track the less races they get and in turn less money, or more money spent trying to remove the rubber, while drifting is fun to watch and do, it kinda needs its own tracks to not ruin it for everyone else.

I just discovered this chanel with the Nurburgring video (which was awesome btw), and now I'm watching this ! I've had a big smile during the whole video, it just made me want to sit in the passenger seat and enjoy the moment haha ! I'm french, sorry if my english is not perfect... Tbh I think it's fair play to the Marshal's. They let you have some fun for a while but at the end of the day it's their job to keep everyone safe, and if a car crashes that's more paperwork for them to sort out

If you set the rear tire pressure 5psi higher thsn front you can eliminate the oversteer bias quite a bit.
