Top 10 list idea with a twist: Best game for each of 10 themes. Take 10 themes (e.g., pirate, zombie, monster, robot, train, space, etc.) and each of you mention your favorite game with that theme. Maybe the best way to implement it is that you each come up with your own list of "Top 10 favorite themes", giving your favorite game for that theme with each. (For example, Sam may have "space" as his #1 favorite theme and says - obviously - TI3 as his favorite in that theme.) Huh? Huh? How about it?

I purchased Splendor (same company) because Tom mentioned the high quality components and it's now one of my favorite games. I'm going to get Black Fleet for this same reason.

I love that Tiny Epic Pirates basically took this entire game and made it tighter and crisper.

@@travelwithdrawal8067 Still working on it... haha (obviously not regularly...) I got it to a very basic play-testing stage and decided to take it in a completely different direction. It's at the almost ready again to basic play test and check mechanics/gameflow... check back in another 9 years xD

Looks like Jamaica without the racing :) Well, almost without. Btw, i get that those cards you flip are secret even to you. Or can you check what every card does, so you flip them knowingly?

Tom presents this game as being much more interesting than the Shut Up Sit Down guys made it out to be. I would buy it after seeing Toms review as he showed it to be more fun possibilities and a quicker lighter game that some of my friends prefer rather than more tedious finicky complex game.

Hi Tom , please help me decide which one is more fun for Family ? Black Fleet or Jamaica ?, it doesnot matter if they differ , just which one is rated higher and makes more fun , Family is mixed , boys and girls. the laughter and more fun one please. many thanks

I got both. They´re both easy to learn, fun to play and the graphics and design of both are really good. In my case, Black Fleet brings out a bit more laughter and competition to the table than Jamaica. I guess it´s got a bit more variations to it. If I had to buy both again, I´d do it, but I´d buy Black Fleet first.

Decent game for the price I payed for it(around $16) but it has no longevity. After 3-5 plays you will see everything the game has to offer, which is why I got rid of my copy. Still a good family/mid weight game with great components, and if you can get it dirt cheap, it's not too bad

With Jamaica, everyone plays on everyone's turn, so there's very little down time. With Black Fleet, there's significant waiting between turns. Jamaica supports 2-6 players while Black Fleet supports only 3-4, though there is a 2-player variant. For those two reasons alone, our family enjoys Jamaica much more. With the new expansion for Jamaica ("The Crew"), it's been even more fun. If I had to choose one, I'd go with Jamaica.
