An observation! Road works traffic lights, Germany red , yellow, green (stop. get set. go) as UK. Swiss red, yellow, flashing yellow (stop , get ready, proceed if safe). I know which I would like to see as standard and is safer for all concerned. A lot of trees that appear to be the same age, where are the new crops?

The new crops are in-between and not fairly to be seen from the outside. As there is mostly private forest, the farmers use selective cutting of many very small areas inside. Only in special cases (bark beetles!) the boundary trees are cut in a reasonable mass as well. For climate reasons, the gaps from the aforementioned selective cuts these days are mostly filled with eciduous trees. These are the "new crops" you are missing / not seeing. :)
