Black Forest Star Party
Over the weekend, I attended the Black Forest Star Party in Pennsylvania, USA. The "BFSP" is an annual dark-sky amateur astronomy observing event hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Observers (CPO).

The Black Forest Star Party has been held every year since 1999, and usually takes place in the early fall in Cherry Springs State Park.

It was an absolutely incredible experience. I came home with some amazing photos and even better memories. Thank you to everyone that attended my talk on Saturday!

I've been meeting to head to this event for a few years now. Hopefully in 2021 the border will be open so I can head south again. A couple of guys from the Pittsburgh area (Kiski Astronomers) come up to Manitoulin Island every second or third year, and they speak highly of the Black Forest event and the gear it brings out. What I noted in the video was a row of fibreglass trailers, so is there a Dob zone, astrophotography zone and a fibreglass trailer zone? Another good event not too far from AstroBackyard's home is the Great Lakes Stargaze in Gladwin Michigan, it happens in September, border will not be open for us Canadian's to attend in 2020.

I have went fot Asiair alternative - Raspbery Pi 4, in a cooling plastic box with Stellarmate OS installed. Way more computing power, much better usability via VNC viewer connection (app is available too, but I don’t like the limitations) and cost was like 50$ lower than Asiair. Some learning curve with Kstars/Ekos, but Stellarmate has very good tutorials and got me going real quick.

crossing at the peace bridge? you drove right through my neck of the woods lol, I cant wait until next summer, Im going to upgrade from my little nikon D3400 and most likely check out cherry springs as well. Buffalo is quite light polluted.
