Yes. I got a refurbished M3 Pro 14" for 1.6K Euro and its amazing. The 18GB of ram go a long way + the GPU performance is out of this world. Definitely a better buy than the base M4

No I don't think so. Base M4 is on par with the performance of m3 pro or even slightly better. It only lacks on gpu performance which isn't big deal as mac book doesn't require high gpu use unless you do gaming which isn't likely I guess. Also with center stage camera, 1000 nits display with 24 hrs battery with longer os support than m3 pro in cheaper price than m3 pro what else do you need? It is really dumb move to buy m3 pro right now instead of base m4

I was just at Best Buy. Looked at Apple Display for $1299 and MacbookPro M4Pro with 1TB for $2099. That’s $600 savings. I passed it up. I will wait for MacBook with OLED. Being impulsive this is hard to do but waiting 2 years will be major.

@@David_Trang If it's affordable, the M3. Dual external monitors, AV1 encoding, ray tracing, SSD speed improvement- perhaps not immediately important for casual users, but can come in handy. However, if budget is very tight, the M2 is also a great machine. I actually just advised someone to get the M3- in fact bought it yesterday (though pikcup today). Heads up it might take a day (or more) for pickup to be ready, they have a long line right now. Whatever you pick, aim for the 16 GB model to avoid swap to SSD, that is probably the biggest source of potential stutters with normal use.

Hey Matt, do you think the M3 is worth the $100 difference from the M2? I was looking at getting a MacBook Air with 16GB of Ram and 256GB SSD and don’t know if I should save the $100 or go all out. I’m a college student who really only uses a MacBook for web browsing on multiple windows with perhaps some apps in the background such as Spotify and Microsoft Word/Excel.

I’m using a IPhone 12 Pro Max for 3,5 years and it shows it’s age. Battery is terrible but still usable for day to day tasks. I would like to upgrade to a new 16 pro max in 2025 but there are no real deals in my country for now. Hope to win it on gewaway👍

Definitely go with the M3 and AirPods. The M3 is a fantastic device and should last a long time, and I love my AirPods. I'm a grad students and use my M3 Mac with my AirPods all the time when studying in coffee shops and such.

The regular M4 model would be sufficient for college use. If you want to use a virtual machine for Win-based games, you may wish to consider more storage and/or RAM depending on budget.
