Great stuff! I've just upgraded my backup system the other day with a Drobo DAS, very nice equipment & bought the same Seagate expansion 8tb drive you showed because they were on special, so I cracked open 5 of them and used them in my Drobo. Not the best speed like you've said but you can't go wrong for the price, there's Barracuda Cumpute drives inside.

Ooooo Henlo be very care careful! Barracude compute (SMR) drives do not play nice with Drobo systems. We use a Drobo 8D but use all WD/HGST drives inside. I pulled a Barracuda compute and had it in the Drobo for a while but it threw a "Failed" error, so upon putting it back into the original enclosure it's worked fine for over a year since. I would highly recommend taking those drives out and returning them if you can. If you're going to shuck drives to put in the Drobo, use WD Easystores, or do some research on Reddit's r/datahoarder. Yellowhouse Aerial yes, the Drobo guys themselves told me to use the Barracuda Pros but they're to expensive, so I've used 2 x 8tb Ironwolfs NAS drives I had with 3 x 8tb Computes but that didn't work out well with the initial data transfer, it bombed out the whole time and loosing connection, that's why I bought another 2 x Computes & it works well so far. Will definitely look at the WD if I have issues with them. The Drobo guys also told me to use non-NAS drives in my 5C because it's a DAS and not a NAS. Must say, I am a bit disappointed because they advertise it will work with any drive, doesn't matter the speed or the capacity.

@@HenloduToit Interesting on the non-NAS drives... I don't really know that the data load or usage varies with NAS vs DAS... Both have a lot of up time, the same read/write algorithms and unRAID... I'm also having some issues with WD 6TBs.. I think Drobo just has its own share of issues.

Yellowhouse Aerial yes, the other day my Drobo just disconnected from my computer and from there onwards the computer didn't see the Drobo...🥴 Stressed a lot because I couldn't find a 5C in South Africa or even worldwide. So the next morning after almost no sleep, I took all my drives out of the Drobo (then the computer sees the Drobo), reset the settings/firmware to factory defaults, put back the drives & all the sudden the computer sees the Drobo! Fastest I have made backups in a long time! I now use a 2 bay Thecus NAS to backup the Drobo because what if the Drobo unit fails, then you're stuck...😃

We were mistaken in the video: It appears the Mavic 2 is on sale but the Mavic Mini is not, as it is too new. Sorry! The good thing is it’s still quite affordable and REALLY good value!
