And what comes to the woke movies such as The Little Mermaid live-action remake; I don't consider myself racist, but in my opinion turning a white classic character (fictional or real one) is like if you wanted to turn Pocahontas or Michael Jordan into white, and I don't think anyone would really like THAT. Also, that's why I like Miles Morales; he's an original character with the background and family of his own and not just a black Peter Parker. Absolutely based. I recently started playing Dragon Quest 11 S and so far, I love each and every one of them. None of them are black, and one of them is portrayed as gay (its never said in game, so I could wrong) and yet he's among the many male characters who I can empathise it. Yup. It’s called gaslighting. Specific type of projection that aims to substitute ourselves as a punching bag with another person to have at it. Heartfelt story from you...alcoholism runs in my family as well, and I must admit, I have teethered on the edge of falling into that hole numerous times. Sorry, you had to see your father deteriotate like that and it took courage for you to speak out about it. I was lucky and my birth father left and died from it w/o me knowing him and my mother pulled herself out of that hell and hasn't had a drink in 30 yrs, still kicking at age 80. The part of Barrett that resonates with me is losing his wife, as I lost my fiancee 15 yrs ago and I played the original game about a year after her passing when the wound was still open & extremely painful. You can tell the burden he carries, how much he loved and appreciate dher and how he beats himself up internally about having to be the best father he can be, sometimes, unrealistically so. Barret Wallace is absolutely one of the best, and underrated. Not only does he have the weight of the world on his shoulders along with the team, and a tragic back story, but he's also just a man. Literally. His team consists of a juiced up super soldier (Cloud), student of a world famous martial artist (Tifa), a magical girl with supernatural alien ancestry (Aerith), a descendant of a race of mega warriors (Red XIII), a robo cat with probably infinite copies of itself (Cait Sith), a ninja prodigy and daughter of her nation's leader (Yuffie), and a literal immortal shapeshifting vampire (Vincent). Barret is just a man who's lost an arm, along with his previous life. By all rights he should be a shell of a man like Dyne, especially since him and his team have to face off against everything from massive man-eating monsters, to god-like beings, and even freaking celestial objects. But he chooses not to be like Dyne for the sake of the planet, his friends, and his best friend's daughter.

AC Liberation you played as a black female trying to end 1800 slavery The game makes use of this by giving you a disguise mechanic where you could dress as a slave or a beautiful woman and use that to get into places you couldn’t get into before And your not gonna believe when I tell you the story is actually well written😮 in universe the game is actually Templar propaganda that is suppose to make the assassins look bad and the Templar look good. Basically if you play the game not doing the bonus content it is about your character slowly realizing the Assassins, your father, the Spanish government rebels, and the smugglers are not good people so you defect to the Templars However if you did the bonus content you get to see deleted scenes that shows the real story they were hiding which made the real narrative of the Templar’s stay bad and the assassin’s are good overall so your character fake his defection to make an end of them (I don’t want to spoil it but the things you find out goes from pretty mild to disturbing really quick) Then you realize the game wasn’t about freeing slaves rather freeing you from propaganda. It seems you don’t have to be physically captive for slavery to take place Sadly a game like this would never be made thanks to the FIB mouthtapers paying the people in the industry

35 years go my father said abut identity on the internet: No name, No address, no phone number. I don't care who the other side is, an argument has to stand on it's own. Everyone is colorless on the internet. I hold to it since the first day on the internet. People insisting to judge by color or other characteristics are the problem, no matter if majority or minority. All this "We have to overcompensate to make it equal" Are the problem in my opinion. Are there people in a less desirable position because of events in the past. Yes. Is it a solution to put then on a pedestal and pamper the heck out of them? I think not. They have to do the work as anyone else. We can only give the tools to do so. It's a fine line between support and pampering. To know when to stop is the important part. There are reasons beyond luck of heritage and upbringing why the fortunate exist. They put in the work. To point to the 1% who where the lucky one and ignore the 99% who worked hard isn't good and gives a bad example for the people we want to support. We can't give them what they want without them putting in the work. My grandparents worked hard and started with nothing more than their clothing, a bombed out home and the will to live better. They worked hard so that my parents would have a better live. My parents also worked hard to give me and my siblings a life they couldn't have. I'm fortunate that that they worked hard and thankful for that. But i will not accept any inequality towards me becuse I'm now in a better place than other people just because I'm a white male. It's wrong to ignore the struggle of my ancestors just because it's inconvenient.

.... I am just going to throw this out there as a Barret Wallace fan: he is a GREAT character period. He lost everything, lost his arm, lost his wife, lost his future and even lost his best friend, and how did he react? He adopted his best friend's daughter and raised her like his own, banded together other people who suffered at the hands of the Shin-Ra company and formed a rebel group which he leads. Plus, he was huge help to Cloud in saving the planet. Plus, he is entertaining, a badass and really fun to play. How is he a bad black character? Because he's blue collar? Because he was modeled after Mr. T who might I add is a celebrity who uplifted a generation of kids of all colours onto the right path and was one of the big stars of the iconic and timeless series "The A-Team".
