A white contractor showed up to work on the house of a Black homeowner with a racist confederate flag on the back of his truck.
Allison Brown told the offending contractor, "Hi, you know what I do apologize. I know you've come from a very long way but we're going to use someone else."

Years ago I was on a Ferry and saw a Home Depot Trailer parked that was being pulled by a truck that had the confederate flag on the back of the cabin. Knowing that the drivers are not necessarily always associated with the chain I called the Home Depot. Now I don't know if its because I sound absolutely "white" on the the phone, but they called me back to notify me that he had been fired. There was great satisfaction for me that day

Some years ago, I had a similar experience, on a business trip, after a training session, caucasian co-workers and I went out to lunch, not being familiar with the area, I allowed them to choose the restaurant, well when we arrived the restaurant had a huge confederate flag displayed on the door, I immediately told them I could not eat there, which befuddled them, I told them the flag was a symbol to African-Americans your business was not wanted, which they disagreed, they went on to eat there and I didn't, which was also the last day i associated with these specific coworkers.

Since I work in an industrial area, there’s not a lot of food chains or grocery stores nearby, so I went to the mom and pop store across the street from my job for lunch. The Iranian guy behind the register ignored me and proceeded to help the other non-black male customers. I am 55, a white male in Georgia and I do contract work as a floor installer and some painting. I want nothing to do with the confederate flag. With that said, you just don't treat a client that way when you are coming to their house. Treat people with respect and professionalism. The homeowner did the right thing by sending him on his way.

One thing that really bugs me about those guys who just love that flag and boast about how it’s “their heritage” are also usually the same ones who say, “slavery was hundreds of years ago and black people need to get over it!” So, you think people need to “respect” your so called southern heritage but you also want black people to get over the horrendous things they went through, and still go through, during that same time period that your “heritage flag” represents?
