This version is top tier. You can hear how much he's aged, how many miles he's traveled, and all the fucked up shit he's seen. Then uses distortion and effects to again break the musical mode by turning an acoustic into a fire machine. All these people saying its overdone, appreciate his evolution. And holy fuck, those fingernails

Tell me what a young man, mama, what's he got to live for Tossed in the shuffles of everyday war Searchin' for some trouble, Lord, which I'm sure he will find Spend your whole life fightin', son, meet your dyin' time It's a shame, it's a shame, Lord The trigger be his only friend It's a shame, oh yeah But it ain't never gonna end, no, that's right He's a pocketful of hate that don't give a damn What fate awaits the machine-gun man? Well, he ain't got no future and he ain't got no plan What fate awaits the machine-gun man? The machine gun man, yeah I can't see tomorrow and I don't see today Trail of confusion, Lord, done leadin' my way They say the only thing worth killin', Lord, be killin' time Only soul worth savin' now, mama, be a re-savin' mine It's a shame, it's a shame, Lord The trigger be his only friend It's a shame, oh yeah But it ain't never gonna end, that's right He's a pocketful of hate that don't give a damn What fate awaits the machine-gun man? Well, he ain't got no future and he ain't got no plan What fate awaits the machine-gun man? He keeps shootin', oh mama Like any old fool would do Lord, the life he be leadin' Ain't the one he had to choose As he walks on out that door Mama breaks down to cry Oh, as she waves the machine gun man Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye Yeah, he's a pocketful of hate that don't give a damn Oh, what fate awaits the machine-gun man? Whenever I am upset that I never learned how to play guitar, I just bring up a Zakk Wylde/BLS clip….. and I read all the comments of the "guitar players." It lets me know that if I actually learned how to play, that I would spend the time complaining, critiquing, and bitching, about guitar playing like this. Jesus!!! Now that I have accepted and accomplished nothing on the guitar, I can enjoy Mr. Wylde. Thank you You Tube…..

I recently heard this song, and thought, man, this describes 'exactly' how I felt coming out of H.S. and joining the Army. A loner, but never alone. The best part of that life was slow-cruisin' out into the country in my 68' LeMans convertible, alone, and smokin' a nice bowl of reefer.... feelin' the breeze and not givin' a shit about nuthin' or nobody!!! I couldn't wait to leave home in some way and get the fk out from under my parent's thumbs.... One day I came home and told them I was leaving the next day for Infantry School, and with $5K in my pocket to boot!!! Little did I know that I would be put into a Recon Scout Platoon and job as an M60 Machine Gunner on a gun jeep!!! Our unit was a 24hr deployable reactionary force. One Saturday some of us decided to drop some paper, and a couple of hours in, we got the alarm to roll. Triple-strand concertina wire surrounded the barracks and the whole battalion was outfitted full combat load. We drove blackout to the airfield and boarded C-130's not knowing where we were going, for what, and for how long. Talk about trippin'..... We flew for hours, zigzagging' through the mountains somewhere..... It seemed like the plane was going to roll over and stall, as the wheels on our jeeps would lift off the deck and the tie-down chains appeared as though they were stretching and contracting. We could also feel the wings torquing and crying out like they were going to snap off the aircraft.... We weren't told anything, but to keep noise discipline, and keep our traps shut. The silence was so loud that it made the cid even more potent. I won't further elaborate on the details of the events that took place when we got to where we were going, but man, that was one h of a trip!!! I don't endorse of all things, dropping cid when you're an Army M60 Machine Gunner and being deployed on a 'live' run!!! Those are 'two' trips that you might not return from!!!! As far as people not liking the man's voice? Too fucking bad sucks to be you!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think so, I mean, I agree that Book Of Shadows is probably his best work but BLS is just great too man. I mean, his albums are very consistent, each with a bunch of great songs on it. I couldn't live without it, especially now, when I'm watching Sons Of Anarchy all day long. It's just very catchy, simple and the combination of heavy metal and chill acoustic stuff just never gets old. Then he's just a very tight guitar playing and he used to be an amazing vocalist.

gotta love when people who have no clue how to play guitar or write music ignorantly comment on subjects they can't relate to. his nails are long to play classical style without using a guitar pick. I as a guitarist respect zakks talents as a musician, also from a musicans view hes never sold out. if any bls member sold out it was Robert going to Metallica to release St. Anger.
