Oh dear pal, they recommended "sarmale" twice and you didn't try it? It's already ready to eat, you don't need to prepare it. Go back and taste one, if you are realy interessted in traditional romanian foods. And if you are curious about going deeper into it, try Tripe soup (ciorba de burta) and polenta with cheese (mamaliga cu branza). Raki is not a romanian alcohol, in romania you get "Tuica". I saw some bottles there. Tuica is made of plums. In the middle and north romania they drink tuica at 60°, in the rest it is like 40°

@Warning2248 look,dont get defenced directly,carrefoure opened at 2011 in litle citys,not everywhere in Romania is bucresti ore brasov!!its not something that u need to shamed of!!even mc donalds came arround 20 years ago first time in BUCRESTI!!!and about condiments(cosmin etxetra)offcourse you had red pepper(boia ardei)and black pepper....but believe me,95% of people didnt knew what was gram masala,curry..curcuma..ras el hanout etxetra!!!why you get in defence directly??!!this is problem of Romainians mainly,they think they are patriots while they get offensive for this kind of things,last time i wrote that salary is 2700 lei(500€)and cheapest 2 room appartment(40 m2)=300 € ,so with gas wather electricity etxetra you dont have left over for food.......1 idiot wrote me that minimum salary in Romania was 1100€!!! My advice to that Romanians are..dont get deffensive,try to change Romania,majority lives now for about 10/15 years in europe(GB..GERMANY..ETXETRA)....there peopld dont pay when they go to doctor ore hospital...in Romania u people do!!even pay for (bribe)bed in hospital!!!!change those things what remained from comunism!!!!ok??

We use in so many ways the Cabanos , the cabanos usualy comes in diffrent aromas from difrent part of Romania so if you see cabanos that is smaller , shorter longer wider each one can have diffrent taste if its made in diffrent part of Romania

Now I think that Romanian food is great and it's reflecting a few thousand years of culture, spreaded from Anatolia to the Baltic sea and borrowed to the Slavic Germanic and Hungarian people, before all of this neighbouring populations expanded over the Thracians territories.

If you don't know... why bother writing in english. Write better in russian. "Sarmale" are inspired by Turkish cuisine, but they are made from pork (meat forbidden by the Islamic religion) and have a different taste. "Mici" are originally Romanian. The Russians probably invented sourcream just like they invented hot water and then they invented tea (China). I'll help you with mamaliga...foreigners call it polenta (Italy)...but here too...the taste and consistency are different.
