I am not a divestor but I must admit that the divestment movement gave me the confidence to date out of my race. I saw previously how black men responded to black women celebrities that dated or married out or white men and ngl it scared me to even think of encountering that rage. But with the divestment movement, I saw mass groups of black women dating out so I didn't feel like I would be targeted if I were not alone. I have seen so many black women in interracial relationships that it is normal now. I don't identify as a divestor but they have definitely helped me in some ways. I am with my boyfriend now he is white and happens to be the healthiest relationship I have ever had before, and if I had never got the confidence from that movement I would have never met him which is crazy to even think about.

I have been harrassed on the street and mean mugged by BM when out with my WM. A guy had a meltdown on the bus one day (we commute rather than deal with traffic) when we were on the way home from work. We've had BM make commentary when they have a WW with them, and we just laugh. The WW he's with is crazy. She doesn't want her daughter to be competition for her in the dating world. These preferences usually hate the girls they birth for this reason. He's a self-hating Sambo who wants to see BW alone and waiting for BM to get their ish together. I have had far less trouble with WM than I ever did with BM. I do not give BM the time of day. Regardless of the color of the man, you must use your wisdom, intuition, judgment, and have a high level of self-esteem. If you're not high on you, then no man will be, period. I have not been fetishized by any of the WM I've been with because I'm not going to attract that into my life. I have standards, boundaries, and expectations, period. I don't care who anyone else is with. Make good choices, and go from there.

Divesting is just excluding black men from your dating pool, making sure to prioritize your own welling being, and not settling for anyone. After “Something New” came out, it was official. I remember us pulling into the Walmart parking lot, there was an old couple, bw/wm walking back to their vehicle. The woman had white hair. That really bothered him for some reason. The fact that she was an old woman must’ve hit a different kind of nerve because bm feel like bw are supposed to nurture THEM, and an old black woman should be with “Pops.” One time we were in Denny’s and there was on old black couple, having breakfast, and you can tell that the woman was still so much in love with her husband, like she was so happy to be spending time with him. There was a couple around their age in the next booth. Woman black, man white. The black guy couldn’t stop eyeballing the interracial couple although he was with his wife. Now….if black men didn’t open the door to interracial dating, they still would be living in a comfortable world with “nothing but a black man”-black women walking around, being laughed at-by black men.

My theory, and I am a white chick from europe, so I admit I have no clue about black men: Isnt it simple psychology that you can also see in kids behaviour? If you keep candy away from kids for their entire childhood, they will go wild with it the moment nobody can tell them "No, you cant have that" anymore. Everything that is off limits to people for a long time, no matter what it is, suddenly rises in "value" or triggers a stronger desire to have. And men also have a bigger status and competitiveness-thing going on, so getting a white woman could be like "I made it. Look, I am worthy enough to get one of these". Its a power/status thing maybe? I am not saying its that for all but THIS dude might have this mess going on in his head.
