As a diehard fan death metal genre, I will recommended these band and enjoy their musical style: Anaal Nathrakh, Mayhem, Imperial Triumphant, Bethlehem, Archgoat, Mgla, Patriarkh, Sigh, Deathspell Omega and Spectral Wound.

Mgla is worth checking out too, the vocals feel more like death than black really. Also I'll add Sacramentum - Far away from the sun.

Necrowretch. Especially their latest album, Swords of Dajjal.

This video is for me. I’ve been a death metal fan for the past 25 years but never really got myself into black.. mostly because of the vocals and bad production. But I do like some of it for sure. So happy you made this video and I will be sure to check your suggestions out.

i mean theres some really "badly" produced death metal too but theres a difference between bad production and something thats grimy and awesomely bad haha. Same in black metal. Unless you want your music to sound some sort of perfectly cleanly produced, but theres that too in black metal

Try listening to acheron and impiety and eventually swap to the newer archgoat and teitanblood albums if you want to insist on listening to more black rooted stuff

I found perfect condition copies of Storm of the Lights Bane and The Somberlain buried in a box of crap CD's at the hospital thrift store down the corner. I had to bite my lip to keep from shouting out with joy as I paid the old lady $2 each🤘🤘😜 Those records fuckin PERFECT! Nice list Questy, I think I'll check out that Necrophobic Record, zounds like my style!

I love both black and death, but black metal is the superior sub-genre. So much more variety. You know what they say: Once you go black you never go back. Necrophobic's The Nocturnal Silence was the album that pulled me into black metal years ago, as well as Dissection's Storm of the Light's Bane. Nowadays I'd say Archgoat reigns supreme.

I find myself looking forward to death metal releases more than others, but I dig some atmospheric and melodic black metal. Ash Borers' 'Cold of Ages' never gets old.

Working out to Metal is very motivating. I recommend you do that

I am more a death metal fan but like some black metal my favorites are watain, immortal, later mayhem, dissection, necrowretch. Also like symphonic stuff like Emperor and the latest vargrav album.

Good recommendations. I've listened BM for some 20 years now, but DM only a couple. BM's problem is that it is ultimately quite hollow, albeit varied, "genre". Some cross-over albums are quite nice, but musically there's simply nothing that matches albums like Incurso or Annihilation of the Wicked. For me at least.

I'm just getting a little more into Black Metal. But I started years ago with early Bathory and for some reason Immortal so they were my gateway to some Black Metal! Good video!

I feel that Storm of the Lights Bane is also a perfect Thrash to Black bridge. Thanks for the content Questy. Going through a challenging time now and these short interesting topic videos give me a nice break.

GoatWhore has some great albums, that mixes black metal and death metal in a way, that could persuade a death metal fan to check out more black metal.. 🤗

I'd say Immortal Heart of Winter for the guitar tone, classic Greek BM (Varathron, Rotting Christ) has slower, chunkier riff sections, Samael 'Blood Ritual'. For me, as a death metal fan, I couldn't get into BM for ages cause of the shrill tremelos, constant blasting, lofi recording. Now I love it, but those types of albums eased me in.

Nice concept. If we do the other way we definitely need to talk about Incantation. A lot of black metal aura in their music, especially 90s albums

Naglefar “ Hunengrab Im herbst “ I don’t like death metal because I like the more darker depressing type of style . I was always a “ As the flowers wither “ fan over a “ Altars of madness “ fan as an example. I appreciate the death metal musician’s talents but, the only death metal album I listen to occasionally now is “ For never laid to rest”👍

I always say im not a black metal fan. I love black metal bands but almost always my favorite albums by black metal bands are the ones the fans say are not true black metal

Black metal is my favourite genre, but I genuinely feel that the early 1st and 2nd wave (particularly the Norwegian scene) which people say is "trve black metal" is completely eclipsed by the modern stuff

I like the artsy aspect of black metal. I dont like how a lot of it is super boring with very incredibly average songwriting. Loads of good BM though ive found over the years, but you gotta be selective.

I would say mgla, i don't like this band at all . To me they lack a certain dark energy that is essential for black metal, which is why I would consider them a "black metal" band for non black metal fans. Also, dissection maybe, even though I don't rate them as high as other do, it's just closer to melodic DM than many other notable BM bands
