We just love to watch your suffering!! The trick to practice polyrhythms is, to my knowledge, to sum all notes into a single rhythm. This gets messy (or impossible) when you have multiple rhythms at the same time.

Loved your reaction, Boris~ TYSM for doing one more ESS, although it was clearly painful for you!! I don't think ANY of us would have thought we'd see a drummer at this level. EVER. How he can keep all his different tempos going at the same time is mind-boggling. I REALLY want some neurologist to do a brain scan while he's playing so we can see what's going on in there~ I suspect the firestorm would be lighting up every region of his brain at once. Either that, or he's reached such a state of Zen that it would look like he was in a meditative state. One more thing~ why don't his fingers cramp up???

Two things you might want to look into. One is Paul Hindemith's book, 'Elementary Exercises for Musicians'. He has you tapping basic rhythms , first with one hand , then two different rhythms with each hand,...later you add a seperate rhythm for one foot, then finally 4 different rhythms , one in each hand and foot. Also, look up the you tube video ;' Konnakol rhythms and quads'.....It's from India and it's really quite extraordinary. Have fun!

I've drummed practically my entire life. Started at like 3 or 4 with tapping along to the radio and somehow figured out the whole kick, snare, hat setup and could groove at around 6 or 7. But I plateaued. I was a Jazz drummer and played in metal bands, but I clearly saw I was running into my limits. And no matter how much I'd practice, there were things I just don't think I can do, like a steady double kick. I've practiced it for 20 years. But everytime its like one ankle will twitch and go out of sync. Siberiano is the ultimate combination of skill, chill, & drill, which is what is required to get to his level.

I used to be a drummer, but I did not do it for more than 3 years I believe and I decided to try the Bass and some what.. 20 years ago I decided to play the guitar.. Still.. watching El Estepario Siberiano doing his thing, puts a big smile on my face. These excercises are as far as I can see all about coordination and finding the ballance between muscles and brain. This would be the best discrition I have for this type of playing.

Jacob Collier is regarded as one of the greatest musicians alive. He invents new ways to play music, new instruments, writes in quarter tones and half tones...because he explained music so well in a lecture, a damn lecture, I wrote a piece of music for the first time in the strange belief that anyone could write a song if they just listened to his lecture too. Now my music is performed overseas! I have never been a musician, never wrote another song, I can't even read music...one lecture called 'How every note goes with every other note' and I could do it and I am the most joe blogs in the world.

Substance use that slows down your perception allows you to train various things because feeling slowed down or like you're wearing additional weight on your person is a temporary state. I play a music game called Stepmania; When I'm under the influence, it's like everything is slower, so when I play when I'm sober, I have previous training to do with those same patterns, and can hit those flowing notes a lot easier, even if the field is congested. E.E.S. likely pairs inebriation with some amount of his training, as he had hinted towards the end of your video. Some people can remember things easier if the stream of information is perceived much more slowly, and so, with E.E.S. having familiarity with the material, if he perceives it slower, he can "perfect it" a lot quicker because of a lot to do with a training regiment that involves alcohol. Inebriation-infused training, for a lot of us, can be like applying a bit of butter to a warm pan: Everything works out in the end, and better with every over-and-over-again.
