Saviours of modern prog or overhyped nonsense? YOU DECIDE! Is Cavalcade the best album of the year so far?

@@jonnykhatru glad to give you a sub and hear your thoughts! hehe, I sent you their early singles and you weren’t so keen at first. I mean, if you want my two cents...black midi is just a poor man’s Fuente....

Hehe cheeky ;) yeah I remember not being too into the singles, but Schlagenheim I was well impressed with. And you said yeah but they're still so young, wait and see... And here we are. They're smashing it!

As a Crim head (like look at my pfp's shirt I'm a massive fan) I love that you gave S&BB a shoutout on screen. Red and Larks are great but imho S&BB is better. Anyways, honestly I love the new BM release, it's easily my favorite album of theirs and possibly of all-time. I literally wrote an email to all the teachers I bonded with over music in HS giving what was basically a review of this album
@jonnykhatru3 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah, I usually say Genesis is my favourite band but that King Crimson is the greatest band. Red is probably my favourite but S&BB is also amazing and quite underrated. I think it's the most appropriate comparison for just how chaotic and rough it is, yet always under control (by Supreme Leader Fripp!) 😁 thanks for watching!
@liamcolley29023 жыл бұрын
Great review! Totally agree with your comparison to Crimson, I got some Larks Tongue vibes after listening to John L when it was released and it soon became my most anticipated album of the year and didn’t disappoint! If you haven’t, check out their KEXP set, blew my mind!

There's a "listening party" video on KZbin for this album that has a really amazing synth/guitar soundscape before the start of the first song, have you heard it? I'm not sure if it was included on the actual release but it's one of my favourite parts of the whole thing along with the crooning on the second half of ascending forth :)
@jonnykhatru3 жыл бұрын
I didn't see that listening party cuz I was saving my first listen for this video, so I just now went to check it out. The "interview" at the start and end was funny! and yeah that droning intro was awesome. It's not on the actual album. At first my favourite track was Slow but in the end I think John L is the best. It's a brilliant album overall, like all the best prog albums each song offers something different and special. I gave it a 4.5!
