@FunWithGuru

It does, but they're advertising a show to an American audience, there are more interesting clips to show than that, like the actual rating of people around you and general fakeness of the world, that's more relatable. Not to mention you don't really understand what they're talking about, such as the "Socials" line.

I'm actually very happy they did that. I was nervous when he said they were gonna show a clip. every episode I have watched thus far, has been like a little adventure. if they were to show something that would reveal anything or any part of this well structured and executed series, then I'd say they haven't done the show justice.

Mohammad Fletcher i completely agree with you, Black Mirror's a show that you can't let yourself know anything about before you watch the episode otherwise it spoils the plot and a fair amount of the impact the show has.

+Evi1M4chine I don't know about that I think a GREAT clip they could have shown would either be the early scene where she was taking pictures of her coffee to post to social media or even the scene in the elevator when she upvoted a lady 5 points who then upvoted her only 3 points, those would have been awesome scenes to lay out the episode without giving too much away.

Karin Molander That didn't make me uncomfortable. It's a messed up situation, but it was an isolated thing that really only seriously affected a few people. The dystopian settings apply to the entire world. It's like global slavery. And that's far scarier than just one person's life getting messed up.

Have you ever seen the "White Christmas" special? It's even more brutal than Nosedive, blocking is even more agressive to society than "just" rating (not that it's fair, as you have explained most of the problems of this situation). And there was the most perverse thing after all, the "cookie" thing. Even it's not human after all, it's cruel to the bones!

I agree it's not real, it's as fake as can be. She is also a complete narcissist. Who would take video of themselves crying and then bring it on a talk show for the world to see? You can even see how excited she is to have everyone watch her fake cry. The only respectable actors IMO are the humble ones, and there are far too few of those. I'm kinda blown away home many people actually believe that was real crying.

I love each of them in their own respect. Obviously Twilight Zone caters more to the mindset of the 60s and what they used to fear which is a bit different from what we fear now. Black Mirror taps into that. Virtual Reality, social networking, etc all things that show something that could very well be realistic in our near future. I've been marathoning both Twilight Zone and Black Mirror at the same time and while TZ does have aspects that I think transcends all eras and really speaks to the human narrative there are also elements that touch more upon the 60s. Like their fascination with the moon where as in our time we've already 'conquered' the moon and have technology that gives a better view of outer space that the 60s didn't have.

metallicak5 what you said was literally the opposite of what the episode is about. the people on social media even if they try to be perfect on social media with tons of followers doesn’t mean they’re happy or okay with life and the people who don’t have all of that aren’t happy. bryce’s character always tried to be super happy and good for social media keeping her appearance top notch but in reality she had to go through problems and she seemed like the bad guy when she officially snapped and got tired of it.

Anyway, a yr later she meets with the director, and stars in her own episode called "Nosedive" in which her character has a nervous breakdown.. Brilliant! 👏👏 I rate everything I just saw, ⛤⛤⛤⛤⛤

That's scary if it's true. But we see the beginnings of that here in the U.S. Everyone's being ranked and classified according to social status on the internet. What I can't stand is how so many of the shallow, fake happy all the time dimwits can get so many followers, and yet more grounded, intellectual types are almost looked down upon. I guess it comes down to entertainment value.

Employers already use social media to vet employees, that 'harmless' tweet from 5 years ago where you jokingly called your friend a crazy Jew could come back to haunt you at your interview for that dream job. Or can simply be used as the excuse to get rid of you should the company take you on and later decide to downsize.

Awesome! I love Black Mirror, I love Conan, always will, was on the old Late Night show, I remember I brought a book with me, took all my friends to see him from Massachusetts, (4x), AND... During a commercial break I was looking at the book because it was really good and commercial was ending and I was front row and looked around to see where Conan was, and he was off stage staring at me like "You Son of a Gun....how DARE YOU!" But it was like with a "Oh I remember that age...cmon really?" look, SO funny! So many memories with Conan since I was 13 I think. My Dad knows him a bit and his family who are really nice. I guess Conan last met my father at the Kennedy Center or something, I almost went, for the book Boston Irish my dad is in I think with Conan and Cardinal O'Malley, Tom Brady and Joey from New Kids On The Block.
