This is probably one of the most hauntingly beautiful yet tragic and unnerving tracks from the entire series. The feeling of floating, but being pulled slowly down, not being able to breathe, as you emerge to catch a breathe you’re pulled even further down. This episode is my favourite, and has some of the best acting I’ve ever seen from British actors.
@alanhansen32302 жыл бұрын
For me Shut up and dance was the best episode. The acting was pheromonal! Especially the bank hold up scene. But yes the acting in this episode was top notch. And this music is my favourite from the entire series along with the National anthem episode after the priminister had done that horrendous sacrifice. I love this series so much!

He loved her so much he wanted too forget the pain she caused him. That's why he cut out the very thing that held memories, he wanted too loose them. I remember that episode was what I needed to really get into Black Mirror. What a masterpiece
@user-ow4es8ds5z Жыл бұрын
The first time I watched this episode, I found it funny how he kept questioning her over and over again because it reminded me of myself. 3 or 4 days later, my wife left me too. And then, this episode and bits of the White Christmas episode meant something else. I could relate to them so much. I felt just as helpless as Liam and Joe. Watched the last scene of this episode so many times. 2.5 months later she got in touch with me. I might be reunited with her and my kids soon. Married life isn't lovey dovey how the films make it out to be. It's more about compromise than love. I hope whatever I have learnt during these last few months, I can put it into practice and remember those dark time I went through like Liam.

Hands down the best black mirror episode. The emotion is unreal, I’ve watched them all and there are more shocking ones but this truly stands out as the most tragic and poignant.

The sad part is I think at the end of the day he regretted having the technology to scrutinize things ... yeah he was right but did it make him happy? He hated how he became the insecure boyfriend and the fact that he ripped out the grain shows how much he wanted to get rid of the 24/7 recording of his life.
@shaneasprey97347 жыл бұрын
It isn't being insecure to suspect your partner of cheating, especially when she pretty much proves it in the way she was acting, it's common sense. If your partner was flirting the way she was you'd think about cutting her throat.
@leonthesleepy7 жыл бұрын
John Edwards I get that its common sense, but with that 24/7 technology it could really make people scrutinize every little thing
@TheMajesticChestnut7 жыл бұрын
Cheating on him was wrong, but this was not a pleasant guy. He was obsessive and paranoid to the point of insanity, violent, and controlling, and all that was fueled by the rewind. Just because his suspicions were right it doesn't validate the way he became. Just my thoughts on it.
@TheMajesticChestnut7 жыл бұрын
And anyone who thinks it's common practice to think about cutting a partner's throat based on the perception of her flirting needs an eval.
@XSilvenX7 жыл бұрын
@Squidward -- I don't think so. I'd suggest you watch the episode again. What you tend to notice on subsequent viewings is, he's had suspicions for quite some time, but he's never allowed them to be brought to a peak until the day he saw his wife's questionable body language towards Jonas, as well as the additional clues provided at the dinner party. After the first watch, you can pay less attention to the plot, as you already know it, and can truly focus in one gestures and the way the actors masterfully played their characters. Liam even tells her towards the end of the episode that it's like he's had a rotten tooth that he's finally digging out, which tells the viewer that the signs were there all along. It's not like he had a bad day and suddenly became paranoid for no reason. His "paranoia", was entirely justified, especially when it puts into question the legitimacy of his daughter, which for most men is a BIG deal. When I first watched the episode I would have agreed entirely with you, because he did come off as sort of a dick at first (I mean, Jonas wasn't utterly unlikable..), but having seen this episode multiple times with different audiences (and the different discussions the episode provokes), you'll notice it really isn't his fault. He's just a guy who can't help but notice his wife's behavior. Imagine yourself in his position, I think you'd be a delusional fool to ignore all the signs, especially when they're accessible the way they were in the show (full uncut, undeniable video memory).

The brain has short and long term memory. We all know this, however, it is important to note that there is a reason that we are unable to hold on to every memory. It becomes overwhelming for the brain and frankly useless to hold onto. The brain would become inefficient, much like the main characters, much like most of society with the grain. We hold on to things that we don't need. The grain is ultimately useless, tempting people to reply things over and over again, living in memories that are no longer relevant to what is happening in the present. We are meant to focus on the present, we are capable of finding out what is real and what is not on our own. In a way, that is what this episode suggests. We shouldn't hold onto to the past and analyze it over and over again. If we do, we become obsessed, holding onto moments of happiness and living day by day with lack of communication, and what it means to be in the present, to just "be."

I'm all good. I'll cope. I've got some very ordinary but satisfying prospects in life.

I've seen some absurd and delusional people saying that he's insecure like wtf... putting him on the wrong side of this story as if he asked for it. On their first argument after they came back home I was really hoping he'd ask her for proof by showing him her memories, did any of u actually notice that he didn't do that? it was either a smart move from him not to make her delete those memories or to prevent their relationship from any danger in case he was wrong, according to what he said after he caught her (when you suspect something, it's always better if it turns out to be true) . Well he's a lawyer after all married to a cheating lying ass woman... Yes she's stupid, she should've deleted those memories the moment she saw him suspecting her and jonas but she didn't, why? well probably because she valued them so much that she rewinded that cheating day whenever she had sex with her actual husband. think about that for a sec. This episode should teach you a lesson or two about trust, it's fckng earned and not gifted.

Just thinking that if it wasn’t by the device they would still be together, still maybe her wife would’ve gone with the other guy instead
