The dev team said no, and then IGN started publishing hit pieces every time a new demo came out. This is making some gamers uncomfortable because ancient Chinese mythology doesn't need such political appropriation. The game is a piece of art by itself.

This game is potentially from a studio we’ve heard so little about, but the hour long demos are a thing of beauty. But i’m still gonna reserve myself from preording this until a couple other players get their hands on the final product and try it out for themselves. For those who haven’t seen it there’s a Chinese movie called The Immortal Demon Slayer on KZbin and Amazon. It’s an amazing rendition of Wukong, starts off slow but, if you hang on mid way through, you won’t regret. Truly awesome if you’re fan of Wukong’s myths and DBZ if you catch on.
