"The Black Nag," an English country dance from Playford's "Dance Master." Played on my brand new Thomann Delulxe Guitar Lute. String buzzes are my fault. It is not easy to hold that bowlback!

Thou art a man of great talent when it cometh to classical music on the lute.

Matthew 16:26 King James Version For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Most of those antique German lute guitar I ever chanced to has a clean tone, you should lay your hand around one at least, sound lotta different comparing to modern replicate.

Question cause I'm new to this: is the guitar lute supposed to sound like a lute? Does it sound like a lute?

Hi, thanks for stopping by. You can tune this like a guitar, or you can tune to lute interval (tune the 3rd string from g to f#). In lute interval tuning, you can play Renaissance lute tablature. If you tune 3rd string to f# and use a capo on the third fret, then you have the pitch of a 6 course Renaissance lute. As to "sounds like a lute," you can listen to the recording and judge for yourself. This might be a better indication, from a project I am trying to do with a singer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGTLc6uwfpuXfMk

@@TheAlfonsovaldes Appreciate the extra info! Also, the video you shares makes the tone more clear; it does come pretty close to the sound of a lute! Love it... I am thinking of buying the exact same model. I fell in love with it when I saw it today on Thomann and then I even fell deeper in love when I listened to it. Thanks a lot!

No! It sounds like a guitar! The particularity of lute is the double string which gives the typical sound of this instrument. The lute guitar is a recent and commercial creation for guitarists who want to continue to play guitar on a So called lute… the lute technic Is very different from guitar and needs many lessons : it is another musical world.

Is the bracing lute like?
@TheAlfonsovaldes3 жыл бұрын
No idea. There is no way to look through the rose to check. My guess is guitar bracing, but I can't tell. I recently got a real lute (cheap Turkish starter lute): kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2eriZSIaK6aY8k
