Love those Haitiensis. I breed their cousins (Nandopsis Tetracanthus " Cuban Cichlid") no issue with the bloat but they are some of the meanest little jerk's I ever bred. Thanks for sharing Mate....

Hi Andy your videos are never too long and boring you just gave me an idea I have a breeding pair of jaguars and can never seem to get the fry Beyond two weeks next time they breed I'm going to scoop some out and put them in a 10-gallon and see if that makes a difference.. after about 2 weeks they all just start dropping and all thousand of them just died I can't figure it out, thanks for your help stay fishy

Great video Andy, where do U get that big pipes from in your big tanks, are they clay chimney pots?
@andywoodscichlids29423 жыл бұрын
Yes they are clay. I found them in a salvage yard, there very old and perfect for the larger cichlids. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Happy fishkeeping to you sir

You inspired me to get Some Umbees. So I purchased 5 juvies. Ranging from 2 in - 3 in. I feel the 3 incher is a male cause he's the biggest, prettiest and most aggressive. What do you think as a breeder?
@andywoodscichlids29423 жыл бұрын
Could possibly be a male, but it's not a definite. Female tend to be shorter and thicker than the longer simmer male. They should pair up and show colours by 6 inch. Provide loads of hiding places or you could end up with the killing one another. Good luck with it, I've got my fingers crossed for you. Happy fishkeeping to you sir.

Hey Andy my fish spawned for the first time and I don't know what to do with the fry I cant really keep them once they get bigger any tips?
@andywoodscichlids29423 жыл бұрын
The parents will probably eat them eventually. Sometimes if the parents don't eat them the fry can become a problem feeding of the parents slimecoat and skin. This would be the time to remove them for the parents well being. Happy fishkeeping to you sir

Hey Andy any help I have had 3 spawns pulled from my pair of nasties. Got 1st batch of 60 to 4cm then over a month I lost them all same for next batch and the next. They are in 6ft grow out tanks together. I’m not set up to have multiple little grow out tanks.. I’m about to give up on this to much heart ache they are on eggs again now looking for any other options as I’m all out of ideas
@andywoodscichlids29423 жыл бұрын
Sounds exactly like my early experience with raising Haitiensis fry. I'm sorry I have no tip, only all the regular tips you read on line, which none worked for me. The only way I could successfully raise fry in the early day was in individual small tanks. I wish you the best of luck with your latest spawning. Happy fishkeeping to you sir.

Thanks for the reply.. I might divide the tank and do some in their own space and see if I have success
