Drift0r, I think that selecting Extended Mags as an attachment on an LMG is a very good idea (the same for Shotguns and Snipers!). The reason for this opinion is because people oftenly reload after every single kill while using an SMG or AR (I don't recommend Extended Mags on this guns); while in the other side, few people reload after every single kill using an LMG, Shotgun, or Sniper Rifle; and, this guns reload slowly (most of them).

I find this gun to be the fastest killing gun at middle ranges. High rate of fire in the burst doubles as a somewhat reliable close quarters weapon so theres no need to equip a secondary. I run mine with quick draw, Adjustable Stock, and a laser. Trying to lessen all the weakness of the weapon ( Slow ads, Slow movement when ADS, wide hip fire). A great defensive weapon and does wonders defending buildings and covering doorways. Just gotta keep check on that trigger finger to reset that burst once every second or so

HAMR was derived from the SCAR platform by FN to meet the needs of a controllable IAR for the 21st century. HAMR (Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle) is special in that is can fire from both a closed bolt, and open bolt. Meaning it can bleed off excess heat easier when firing 2 different methods. Now the whole "7 shots are faster than the rest" I believe that was something Treyarch added to make the gun better for online.

If you do some research on the HAMR in real life, it's a variant of the SCAR line of weapons. It's a closed/open bolt hybrid weapon. It basically gives the user the advantage of closed-bolt accuracy with the reliability of an open-bolt weapon. The mechanism changes from closed to open via an automatic temperature trigger, hence the change in fire rate. If you notice the weapon animation on the HAMR here in BO2, the bolt doesn't move for the first 7 shots and starts moving after 7.

The scar h and the hamr are based off the same gun, the scar l(the scar h was a higher calibre scar l turning it into a full power battle and marksman rifle. The hamr, also known as the heat adaptive modular rifle was meant to be an lmg variant that was meant to be resistant to heat when firing. These rifles were both made by fn herstal who also made the FAL battle rifle)

that is up to you, it also depends on whether you are playing objectively or not. if you are playing the objectives flak jacket is definitely the way to go. if you want to run around and spray people with an lmg, lightweight is always there

The real life FN HAMR(Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle) is actually a modified machinegun version of the SCAR MK 17. It has an electronic controller to automatically switch between open and closed bolt fire according to barrel temperature.

Just started using the HAMR on CTF. It's perfect for near and far defense. Although my perks are different, I definitely have to agree with grip, stock, and either RD, Holo, or HYBRID.

Absolutely love the HAMR. I spend most of my time with the target finder which seems to really drop the recoil. Short bursts for close quarters, & at long ranges I let it chug down to the slow speed for the accuracy boost. Target finder, stock and FMJ make this a seriously dangerous gun.

@rcrssmn the aks-74u (which is the actual designation) shoots the 5.45x39mm round that the ak-74 uses, not a round "small enough to be used in handguns". It's classified as a carbine. Not quite sure where you got your info.

Great review.. I love the gun,.. The Real Steel Version switches from a close bolt to open bolt automatically to control the temperature when firing.. Which is pretty cool... HAMR stands for Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle.. So as far as the game goes... It will fire at a rapid fire rate in the close bolt state and then switches to an open bolt stand which cools the weapon or in this case slows the bullet down.. pretty nice.

I like to rush no matter what I do, so I prefer the QBB. I run quickdraw, stock and laser sight on it. Lightweight is a must because instead of a 10% movement penalty, you only get a 3%, which is about the same as assault rifles.

I have learned two things today. 1) That after seeing this video, I tried the HAMR and it is amazing. I now use the SCAR-H and HAMR in my main two classes and they are a nice change. 2) Platypus are poisonous.

Use the dual band scope and suppressor. Any secondary. Flak Jacket, Scavenger, any red perk, any green perk. Use C4 and smoke 'nades. Play hard line or domination, throw smoke on the objective, and make the enemies have a bad day.

Yes, and you can use a pistol/SMG to snipe someone if you have the right firing discipline and a little luck. Which is the same thing required to quick-scope or use an LMG effectively.

While watching this, I realized that the emp grenade only takes away the thermal capabilities of the dual band scope. In reality, your scope would likely just turn black since it requires basically a thermal camera which requires power and what you actually see is just the output of aforementioned camera. Therefore, no power means no sight. It would be a good way to nerf it if it were op to begin with. Maybe people would use that one tier 2 perk nobody uses or remembers.

Well it depends on a lot of different things. The hosts internet could interfere with your connection, sometimes someone is downloading something off your internet connection or it could be raining etc. Also, it can also depend on you hitting them consistently. I know for a fact that I miss a lot of the time, I have terrible accuracy. I wish you luck with winning those gunfights!

Awesome versatile LMG, my favorite one in this game! My preferred class set up with this gun is Primary gunfighter, my attachments are Quickdraw handle, FMJ and Stock. And I use Lightweight, Fast Hands (Mostly for my lethal and tactical weapons) and Dexterity. I love it this way

I like the quickdraw attachment because the hipspread is too wide. Even though LMGs have the highest percent improvement from the laser sight, the hipfire is still very limited. The medium range engagements between hip fire and absolutely must aim down sights will be won with the quickdraw handle. Just my opinion.

The Hamr definitely does not have worse recoil than the QBB even during the initial 7 shot burst. Averaged out I think it has similiar recoil to an LSAT. The main thing you need to watch out for is inconsistent vertical climb during the initial burst. Sometimes it kicks up a good bit, other times it barely climbs at all.

The HAMR is amazing i call it the HAMR of Dawn cus it clears the battlefield i use Acog suppressor quickdraw with hardline toughness and dexterity and my sidearm is the Tac 45 long barrel to dominate the opposition coming at me when im at my weak point

MW3 maps had too many corners and few lines of sight where someone can really post up without fear of flanking. The spawn system and map design in treyarch games make it incredibly difficult to get past a posted up team.

FN Herstal made the HAMR so it can compete with the M27 IAR, it lost to it because the IAR was more reliable and cheaper to make because it's just an HK 416 with a heavier barrel and extended mag.

well if u actually are moving a lot with the lmg (i.e. rushing) then you might want to consider lightweight but even then flak jacket is a very useful perk and in my eyes more practical.
