Black Ops 6 and the Prospect of Carry Forward...

One thing that was pretty polarizing for the context of the debate with Modern Warfare 3 was the prospect of Carry Forward, where for the first time in COD history, your content from the last game would follow you into the next game that you bought. Warzone introduced this but as a paid feature, we had never seen this from game to game. On one hand, players loved this because they got to use all their camos day one, all their weapons they unlocked weren't lost (though you did have more and more to unlock through Modern Warfare 3) and more, but others hated it because it really reinforced the idea of a $70 DLC to Modern Warfare 2. I'm not here to argue one way or the other, but it was a new system in place for the COD franchise that objectively, made the amount of content on day 1 a bit larger in quantity. So, will Black Ops 6 or whatever the COD 2024 title ends up being bring this back? I think attachments should be greatly reduced in quantity. We don't need 200 attachments with minor variations. Cold War was fine because most categories had less than 10 options which is plenty.

In my opinion the only thing that should transfer are skins. Most bundles if not all of them are there for the skins not the guns. The guns are unique to each call of duty game.

Carry forward is necessary because if they cancel carry forward it would untie warzone from MP meaning you’d have to level up weapons in mp and again in wz. This system wouldn’t make sense to go back to and if they do it will reinstate the complaints of COD being too grindy,

I think that if they do implement the carry forward thing that they should work on a way to carry forward from Cold War instead of mwiii, it might take a lot more work but I feel that it would make more sense, in a historical sense with older 80’s weapons and characters, as opposed to the most modern of weapons teleported into the 90’s

I can see almost all the weapons being able to carry over, other than the the semi-futuristic ones like the MORS. Honestly, i love the MORS, but it does not even feel like it fits in the modern warfare world very well. It would make total sense for BO2, BO3, Advanced & Infinite Warfare worlds as they are all based in near future, but i mean, we don't even currently have the technology for a handheld railgun, and sure, i guess you can explain this by the zombies and modern warfare worlds colliding, so they couldve harnessed the technology with element 115/aetherium, but still just feels weird.

I’m split. I think the current roster of weapons is overwhelming, we need a weapons reset. But operators can stay since they don’t really affect gameplay. I rarely used purchased guns anyways but I wouldn’t mind keeping my purchased operaters.

Carry forward player skins not all but like I said crossovers and stuff and carry over camos that's it.I think 2 games inside of warzone at once is enough so u start fresh here with all the guns and maps then carry them all over to cod2025. I think as far as weapons go there has to be a fresh start for Warzone. There would be too much disparity in visual recoil and gun behavior and nobody would use mw2/mw3 weapons,. they would just be there taking up space and it would just keep the game consistent having strictly GW/BO6 ground loot.

I think the carry forward maybe different than you think. I think it could be cold war stuff being carried forward to bo5/6/whatever. They could just remaster the weapons from cw and using our data linked to our Activision accounts, give us back all the progress we made with cw weapons/camos and whatever else. Since bo5/6 is only a few years after cw, it make sense that all those weapons would be around during the events of bo5/6 just like mw2&3

I don’t think “only new stuff” would actually be good. Because if this happened we would have no more m16, Glock, mp5, etc. I think having some old stuff return would be cool, but redesign it yknow. Maybe the mp5 comes suppressed and has only a 15 round mag base idk. The maps should be remade, not remastered. Kind of like the vortex maps we see in mw3. Sorry for the yappaccino folks

That’s just my opinion, but it’s pretty much a good thing after all my years of playing call of duty I never use a modern warfare weapon before so pretty much for the very first time for everyone, including me. I could be able to use two weapons into a black ops game like if you guys are playing zombies you guys need like special bullets or ammo attachments like explosive slugs ammo or armor piercing ammo this is gonna be good. Honestly, I could care less if things do or don't carry over. But stuff that is special event related or bought should automatically carry over. I say this as someone that doesn't really buy anything from the store (2 bundles in the last 3 Cods). Remastered and old maps are always welcome. Now, all this game needs to do is go back to the OG matchmaking, and it'll be good. That's the only thing I'd care about. But we know it's not going to happen. Old prestige would be awesome, too. I actually may not buy this Cod because of the matchmaking. Each year, I quit playing earlier and earlier. MWIII is an amazing game, and Sledgehammer did great things. The matchmaking just killed it.

I feel like only Camos, Emblems, Calling Cards like the smaller things only should carry over because Treyarch having to balance 3 diff games worth of weapons and having to see MW2 guns being used for a 3rd year would be annoying, as well Operators shouldn't carry unless Collabs/Blackcell because why should the new Characters from 2022/2023 be in the 90s.

I think they’re missing out on a huge opportunity moving forward with COD HQ and a unified experience. Just turn the MW and BO franchises into an ACTUAL live service experience since they’re already trying to push that route anyway. Provide consistent and regular updates to each “game” and release bigger expansion packs with new campaign and cooperative experiences once a year. Take sledgehammer away from independent development and make them a support studio again to facilitate this new structure. That way each franchise can be treated more like a CS:GO/2 model, where content doesn’t disappear, you can invest in the micro-transactions without fear of losing them, and it solves the confusion of tying in “carry-forward” content as you just keep it within each respective franchise.

Honestly worry about fixing stuff rather than finding ways to bring old issues forward. Work on the netcode/match desync issues, fix old glitches like head glitches, etc. Make the game feel like competitively you could take it seriously. If you want me in a sweat lobby then give me a game that holds itself to the same polish and standard it's showing it expects from me. Cause as of now it's a joke with how many decade old issues still persist till today.

I don't see carryover happening for one main reason. This is a completely different studio with the Black ops Cold war team that's making the next Black ops game is not a sledgehammer /Infinity Ward type game. Their games are completely different. More cartoony, many other differences. As much as I would love to have stuffed carry over as I've done the Orion and interstellar. I just don't see any reason. It would be clustered and they already have to integrate war zone. That's a whole other thing... I don't see how the war zone weapons don't carry over. What do I know.. it may be something like DMZ did. Where you can't use modern warfare 3 weapons and so forth I hated that because I was a big DMZ player now I don't play it anymore. Losing DMZ sucked for me. Now that I've got my interstellar I don't even play the game

I think they should bring back all the weapons from 2020's Black ops Cold war game and then bring in the new weapons for the new game and kind of make it a push forward towards new content and it has to be fresh and not recycled bull crap. I want to see brand new stuff that I haven't seen before in a call of duty game and I do not want to see recycled crap come through and then it gets boring after a while. I probably speak for everybody when I say this, but no more recycled crap and let's have some new refreshing content that makes us love this game even more, but if not then who truly cares then.

Dude 55 bo6 weapons mw3 only had 36 thats not even 100 weapons so i really don't think it would be a big deal if mw3 weapons carry forward to bo6 n even with mw3s dlc weapons it wouldn't be that much to carry forward
