"What is wrong with him?" Killmonger, despite his rhetoric, has no interest in advancing Wakanda or his people. The first thing he does as king is ensure there will not be another, not even his potential son. He's been outcast and abused by America and Wakanda alike and his goal is to turn one against the other to their equal destruction. Even if he thinks his plan will bring about anything but anarchy (which I doubt, but it's arguable), he's following the playbook the US military taught him as agent provocateur, you know, when he earned the name "Killmonger." The movie treats it as a throwaway line by Freeman's character, but he specialized in infiltrating the enemy, destroying their resources and turning them upon each other. Sound familiar? (EDIT: I should clarify: I don't think that his villainy detracts from his points about inequality or the tragedy of his character. No more than it does for Magneto.) Also, I like that the two notable white characters both fill familiar role for POC characters in American action movies: one as an entertaining but disposable foreign antagonist and the other as a sidekick-ish exposition machine that gets to assist during the climax.

Absolutely. N'Jadaka's life was defined by his suffering, and he couldn't see past it. His revenge was all there was to him. As T'Challa told a man, "Revenge has consumed you". Nice. More info to this tie in: Marvel Comics came up with the name first. But in 1971, the political organization was getting a lot of media attention. Marvel comics felt the need to distinguish themselves from the political organization to avoid confusion between the two. So they changed T'Challa's superhero name from the Black Panther to the Black Leopard. This is one of the more "deeper" MCU films, and so it ranks pretty high on my list as a film that is more than just a "comicbook movie." As for Chadwick Boseman's passing, yes it is sad but he left such a mark on the world, I look upon his life and death with reverence, not sadness. when I first watch Black panther I was very shocked out well done the movie was in the story I literally went to see it three times and for me as a black manit was just a touch me in a special place deep down and I started crying when the first 40 minutes. I really enjoyed how Chadwick boseman God rest his soul he really brought the t'challa to life in such a beautiful. I really enjoyed a lot of the themes of a little bit of Shakespeare here because when t'challa first debuted as the Black panther there was a lot of Shakespearean style writing going behind the Black panther how he carried himself his stuff and all from Stanley's you do right again jack Kirby's work on the fantastic four because he debuted in the fantastic four. and this character meant a lot because I had a lot of expectations for this particular movie and the entire cast did such a great job to the writing it just it all came full circle. I mean Chadwick boseman really did a fantastic job I just can't believe he passed awayit was just how private e was about is diagnosed with cancer and it just blew me away when I heard the news it was just shocking know that he passed away from that and he kept it secret for so long I mean it's crazy because it just you don't know when you're going to leave this world it could be tomorrow it could be 10-20 years from now. Live every moment as is your lastand to me Chadwick really did live every moment of his life to the fullest even with his family when they just wanted to give back so much. It tells you how much Chadwick is great man So I say to the finish off this comment Chadwick boseman may you rest in power Chadwick stand strong and tall in life rest easy

Chadwick Boseman gave a sense of respect, honor, and dignity to T'Challa with his performance. The greatest way we can see him is that everytime he's on screen in the MCU he will always be seen as a Hero/King and that's how we and future generations will remember him. Rest in Peace Chadwick Boseman

Great reaction. I'm glad you loved the film. T'Challa is my number 1 favorite superhero. It's very sad that Chadwick passed away and quite unfortunate that the studio won't continue on with T'Challa's story arc. Such a bummer.

Erik Killmonger is definitely one of the best villains of the MCU as his motivations are really good and Michael B. Jordan does a great job in the role. Personally, he's my fourth favourite

@@MrMpa31 Killmonger's motivations were to use the resources of Wakanda to the outside world so that people would never have to go through the same experience he had
@@MrMpa31 when he says “his motivations are really good” he’s not saying what Killmonger wanted to do was right. But the actual concept of Wakanda sharing their resources is suggested by Nakia early in the movie, and that is a positive. The problem is Killmonger is going to do this to distribute weapons, rather than supplies to help countries

It made him a regular man. Then after he won he will drink another purple potion to give him back his powers

this film was personal for me, as its filmed in part in Oakland, where i have worked for 30 years. i know this city, and so glad its up there on the screen like this. this film meant a lot to my coworkers, and to me. i cant speak as to exactly how my Black coworkers took it in detail, but it was a big deal seeing such amazing representation. for me, its also amazing to see lee and kirbys totally progressive vision of a futuristic advanced Black civilization in africa, owing nothing to the west, come to life.

FYI fun fact or not. In other media, when you challenge for the title of black panther you fight him with all the powers and gear, so if you beat him as they are it shows your better/stronger plus you're granted the title, and you get all the powers of the panther.

i mean, if you completely ignore real world history as so many white people like to do, the name is pretty fair/justified in the context of the story. but of course the problem is that you can't just ignore the real world context, because it has such a big impact on how your story is understood and what kind of impact it makes. leaving it out of the movie was definitely a no-brainer.
