can your petty ego at least admit he was far from your typical villain? It was far from as basic as good guy vs bad guy in this movie. His original intention was to help those he had witnessed being oppressed his entire life instead of keeping Uganda's great power secreted away. He ultimately became consumed by his hatred though and became a twisted version of what he hated like Tchala says near the end of the movie.

Killmonger is a character that every African American can inner-stand... Although a fictional character, he was created from a very real pain that is embedded in the core of every African American soul. A pain that has never fully healed. , We just learned how to live with the pain. Being ripped from our roots, our people, culture, spirituality... Homesick for a home we can only imagine, living in constant what if’s, we use to be and one days... Killmonger was The African Americans and TChilla was the Africans... The disconnect we have with our people in Real Time... This is a deep inner pain, that had to see the Day of light... Our next step is to acknowledge that we are family, heal and build together...

Goddess Goddess agreed
@TubeheadSkinnymike7 жыл бұрын
@Goddess Goddess I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt the same way. I am a first generation-born Nigerian-American, so I could relate to him how he felt like an outsider and he just wanted to reconnect with his roots. It was so jarring to see his African-American culture clash with the Wakandan culture when he arrived there because it felt so familiar. It's what I experience as I interact in my American upbringing with my Nigerian relatives. Our speech is totally different, our views are totally different. The way he said "heeey auntie" totally clinched that in one sentence and I love that. But we still have this baseline of being the same skin that holds us together underneath. At least I can say I am fortunate to know where I directly come from compared to most of my other African-American brothers and sisters. Killmonger just showed an extra dimension that related with me and I cherish that.

T’challa got defeated, all the not dead BS was a plot device and getting help to survive was a cheat. I wanted Killmonger to reign.
@theninjacat72006 жыл бұрын
That was the whole point - Killmonger was unfit to reign. The most basic gift of a leader is love for the people. Killmonger was dead inside, that's why he killed so many to meet T'challa. That's why he didn't hesitate to kill two women and choke a third one...He had no compassion - and it was greatly contrasted by T'Challa who surrounded himself with women, showed them respect and they protected him. So, the lesson is this: if you want to survive, be more like T'Challa. Being like Killmonger will get you the throne - but it won't last.

Nilana River I literally just said the same thing today. Both Loki & killmonger are villains that you feel their pain. Their reasons for turning “bad” make you question the “hero” of the film or the hero’s family like wait yaull were wrong! He’s bad because yaull kept critical info from them & basically abandoned them. Loki was adopted into thors family but he was still raised like a unwanted child & not shown as much love & dedication as Thor received. Killmonger was abandoned & still when he proved himself like speaking the language the wakandans were appalled like “how do you know this”

TMAC13reloaded In the comics he's the king of the dead and comes back to life I believe.. Now I'm not trying to infer anything, but with an actor like Jordon I wouldnt be aurprised if he came back in a sequal

In the golden era of Superhero movies, it is so refreshing to see a Marvel movie steer away from the worn out traditional narratives of “good vs evil” and “hero vs villain” in which we alienate the “bad guy” as just an evil doer out to wreak havoc on the “good guys” usually resulting in a narrow and haughty way of viewing many real life interpersonal conflicts. But to humanize and make the “villain” more relatable by giving light to the character’s underlying motives, drives and beliefs, and to recognize that those drives and beliefs can be just as valid as those of the “hero’s”, it can help us, the viewers, to revolutionize the way we address problems and conflict in our own personal relationships and daily interactions with others. And to do it by celebrating Black culture in a time when it is most needed, I am hopping on the bandwagon of the #BlackPantherHype and applaud you Marvel!! Plus Michael B. Jordan is bae - can we say ZADDY 😍 lmao

One of the best interviews I have seen. Speaks perfectly about his character and his motivations. Look forward to seeing BP again 🙌🏼

Killmonger was speaking truths though. When he said “Nah, bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships. Because they knew death was better than bondage.” I felt that, best line in the whole movie

He's such a great actor. Seems like yesterday I had a little crush on him in hardball and now he's doing such big movies. It's amazing.

I just wanted to say that you don't have to be black to see that Killmonger had a point, with what he was setting out to do. Most people would disagree with the way he went about it, but I couldn't disagree with some of the things which angered him.

He surprised me. Turned out to be one of my favorite characters in the MCU. I need more Killmonger. Michael B. Jordan tried to steal every single scene he was in... & pretty much did. His body transformation was incredible. I wasn’t really into this Actor until I saw the trailer & then after I watched the movie, I’m ABOUT him! He’s wonderful & did a great job. I both understood him & felt conflicted in watching him not go about things the right way 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
