Nakia was pregnant when The Snap happened, which inlcuded T'Challa & Shuri, so she left after that. It's unsure if T'Challa knew she was pregnant before The Snap or not. Nakia stayed in Haiti after everyone came back and T'Challa got to meet his son. This was the secret that Shuri's mother was gonna tell her before Namor interrupted. When the Queen came to visit Nakia, it was her grandson tgat came up to her and took her over to where his mom was...

It always tricky to nail down the time gaps, which end up being pretty important. Black Panther was days/weeks after CA:Civil War, Bucky had been cleared of the mind control at some point after Black Panther (assumed a time jump for the post credit at least), and the next film we get is Infinity War (where Bucky is free and clear of it all, while being confident to fight again). You give them a year after, he likely knows that she's pregnant, but Nakia would also likely have been on the cusps of also being Queen. You cut that to under 6 months, and it's a relationship getting re-established and maybe the pregnancy just happened/he just found out. Leaving under two months pregnant, lamenting the loss of the love of your life (and everyone else who got Snapped) makes far more sense than a Queen-to-be, with child, abandoning the River Tribe, Wakanda, and anyone else looking to care for her well-being. We know that The Blip was 5 years, but then we have no idea how much time passed with King T'Challa back, before the illness that took him came in Wakanda Forever. And then we lose another year to time. 6 years that we can for sure note, less 7 months for the "just became pregnant before The Snap" assist... you've got a 5 and a half year old boy (plus whatever time past between Endgame and WF) A year and some with his father, you end up with a 7 year old boy

Her acting ability and style would have been perfect lol. Not to mention, she just exudes regalness and power, which is all Storm. I' glad she didn't though. The way the character was written would have been a waste of a casting. I remember when they first showed her in the Black Panther teaser for the first film, and people started freaking out when they saw her with the white hair, and thought we were finally getting our Storm 15 years later (they probably gave her white hair for the role to pay homage). Luckily, they were able to find a role for her that was just as fitting many year later...

Namor in the comics is a bit different. He started as one of Marvel's earliest heroes, from before the company was called Marvel. At the time, the company was called Timely Comics, and its first issue released was Marvel Comics #1, the first in an anthology series (renamed Marvel Mystery Comics in the second issue). In that, you saw the debut of Namor, as well as the Human Torch (not the one from Fantastic Four). Namor was the son of a human father and Atlantean mother, later revealed to be a mutant, which explained his capabilities beyond what Atlanteans do. His entire motivation was to protect his homeland, so he would commit acts of terrorism against the surface world, often misunderstanding aspects of it as malicious when they weren't. He was later involved in the first intra-company crossover in comics, when he fought the Human Torch. This started the idea of superhero comics being shared universes. Later, after World War II, superheroes fell out of favor, so his stories weren't published anymore, but Marvel (now actually called Marvel, named after their first issue) brought back superheroes in the 1960s with the Fantastic Four. Said team eventually came across Namor in the modern day, and he's been a Marvel regular since then, riding that line between antihero and anti-villain quite well. But yeah, Talokan and the whole connection to the Mayans was never a thing in the comics. They likely made the change here because they didn't want to be accused of copying Aquaman, who DC had already gotten into live action adaptations, and was poised to release a movie around (both Atlantean kings who are sons of a human father and Atlantean mother, who have a degree of super-human strength and durability, though they do differ from there in their powers). I personally like the change, because the Talokan civilization feels more fresh and new than the 100th time we've seen some version of Atlantis. Does make Namor's catchphrase of Imperius Rex less understandable, though, since that's Latin, and would make more sense coming from a more European-inspired people, but oh well. As with every video of yours, I recommend the movie Imagine Me & You, as well as Zsazsa Zaturnnah.

This is a movie that I really appreciated when I first got to see it. This one really is the mourning that we all needed for Chadwick. More than us the audience, though... HAS to be the people who knew him and worked with him in person... they more than anyone would really feel his loss. They got to see just what kind of a man he was first-hand, and they have every right to grieve his loss. I'm just glad that they were able to share that process of grieving with us.

I wish MCU T'Challa could have met Storm, they were a true power couple in the comics and she would have made a perfect Queen of Wakanda in the MCU. That scenario can never happen now. She could still replace Thor as the Thunder Goddess of the Avengers but she'll never be Queen of Wakanda. I could actually see Storm making her first live action MCU appearance in a Thor or Avengers movie rather than an X-Men one, she wasn't an original X-Man and was only recruited by Professor X to save the original X-Men while on a mercy mission to bring rain during a drought in Egypt.

The tribute to Stan Lee and Chadwick were perfect. Namor is such a good enemy and ally. He's been around in the comics for a very very long time. Namor is weird and he's always been weird. The MCU did a good job with the character as all the things they changed only helped realize the character as a leader and a threat. I never imagined the footwings made him dart around like a hummingbird though but it was.... a thing. Still, this was Shuri's movie and Letitia Wright carried it off... going by the IMDB reviews, I'm guessing the "fans" wanted a male Black Panther as every positive review got viewer bombed and only the "eternally online" feel that's a good use of time. Best negative review: "long meandering movie has no plot and theme. Chadwick Boseman is sorely missed. Why is it a family drama?" Cue forehead slap from the Naked Gun 33 and 1/3.

I was upset that a black man started the recast T'Challa campaign due to his love for stories in the comics not yet told. I feel like he missed the significance of Chadwick as a person, disregard the people that loved him, and that Marvel was fully aware (and he wasn't) of the full impact his sudden death had on children but I digress. The negative alt-Neds and members of the HeManWomanHatersClub latched on cranked up the hate machine. It's a very touching film and the new characters are amazing.

What truly baffles me about Wakanda Forever is that there are people who - to this day - hate on this film simply because most of the core cast is female. Women who have EARNED their roles as they likewise also existed in the previous film as well as Infinity War and Endgame. No matter how many times I’ve seen this - and it’s been at least half a dozen times with different friends and colleagues - I always cry. This film is HEAVY, and it rightfully SHOULD BE. If you’ve ever experienced the loss of a loved one - particularly a parent, a sibling, or both - this film and its overarching narrative absolutely should resonate with you in some way. As an only child, since the age of 18, over the years since, I’ve lost both of my parents and both of my grandparents. So I’m genetically and metaphorically alone in the world now, and as such, in my own regards, I can relate to Shuri and her emotional struggles in this film.

When I heard that Namor was going to be in this movie, I was thinking "He better not be the the Ultimate version." I don't think I can describe how awful the Ultimate Namor was in his storyline, and I don't mean in a love-to-hate way, I mean in a Roger Ebert reviewing North kind of way. To give you an idea how bad it is, he starts groping Sue Storm against her will, and when she manages to use her powers to push him away, he starts beating and strangling her. The Fantastic Four try to stop him, and he ends up beating them all, and he forces her to give in to his advances in front of Reed in order to stop Namor from destroying New York City with his powers.

How do you sneak attack people who live in the ocean? The same way sneak attack fish: with bait!

I’ve always found it amusing that the people from Atlantis (yes, it’s Atlantis even though they can’t legally call it that) all say hello with a Hadouken

Namor and the "blue fish people" in the comics are Atlantean, not Tolakan of Mayan and Yucatan. The reason for changes, because their rival, DC comics already claimed the rights for the DCEU (DC Extended Univese. Also, Namor's name in the comics means "Avenging Son," and he is an Atlantean and Human Mutant hybrid.

Making it a mirror to Wakanda with Talocan was a really good choice though, and I love how they tied in the real geography. That network of underwater caves in the Yucatan is the crater from the meteor that killed the dinosaurs.

Great reaction. This is one of the better post Endgame MCU movies imo

as one of marvel's oldest (1939!) and most ubiquitous A-list characters, namor's been waiting a long time for some live-action attention. he's been villain and hero whose bottomless arrogance seems to be one of his super-powers. props to the effects artists for making his tiny ankle-wing aerobatics not look ridiculous. imperius rex!

When Boseman died, Disney claimed they weren't going to recast the role of T'Challa for future movies. Then in this movie they wrote themselves a nice little work around by naming his son after him.
@johnniequinn32159 күн бұрын
They are not replacing T'Challa son of T'Chaka. No recasting of the character that was introduced in Captain America: Civil War.
@patrickcromwell75549 күн бұрын
Yep, they did that even WHEN Bosman's FAMILY told them it was fine to recast T'Chala because THEY understood that T'Chala was MORE than just Chadwick. He was a staple Marvel character before Chadwick came onto the scene and he'll BE a Marvel staple character AFTER him. so NOT recasting him is a bigger insult then if they did recast him.

@@patrickcromwell7554How is not recasting an insult?
@johnniequinn32159 күн бұрын
@patrickcromwell7554 No it isn't, they didn't need family permission to decide to recast Rhodey or Banner, just as they didn't need permission to write out the warriors three, or Caps live interest in the first Avengers.

@TrickyDicky2006 It wasn't Disneys decision. It was Ryan Coogler's with the Trust and backing of Kevin Feige. And yes, Fiege won that fight decades ago when he was able to bring in Billion dollar box office revenues using the old MCU "formula" without Disney interference. They knew better than to fix what wasn't broken.

I liked this movie but it does suffer from not having Chadwick. He had such an aura about him and was made for this role. I can’t imagine writing a script with your main actor and then learning he passed away months before shooting and having to rewrite the whole thing.

One of the fun parts of Marvel Comics was that Stan Lee played into the idea of a community and respect for the fans and the artists. Was he perfect at that? No. But there was an attempt and honestly that's more than most. I think Marvel under Kevin Feige has tried to do something similar. The opening credit tributes to Stan Lee and to Chadwick Boseman were well deserved, but more foolish producers and studios would have skipped them. I'm glad Disney/Marvel/Coogler did not. I'd much rather a world where we still had Chadwick and his talent. And he seemed like a very decent man. A new generation's Keanu Reeves or, further back, Sidney Poitier. But this movie was respectful of the loss we had. I sincerely hope it was viewed as respectful by his family and loved ones.

One of my favorite parts of this movie is how Ramonda says the show him who you are line differently to both of them. They are two different people with very different ways of thinking. She knew that.

It is highly unlikely that Namor will be in another MCU since the rights to Namor is currently owned by Paramount Studios.

Which s it at the end? That M'Baku is King and Shuri is Protector (as the Black Panther), or that Shuri is technically Queen and M'Baku is more like Prime Minister like in England's constitutional monarchy?
@johnniequinn32159 күн бұрын
Before, T'Chaka was still King while allowing his son T'Challa to be protector. While traditional, they don't have to be the same roles for one person.
