I’m white, grew up in a very diverse little town; my best friend since 6th grade (about 45 years ago) is black. She is my kids’ godmother, we are both part of each other’s families. It hurts my heart to see people who are trying to divide us racially. My family is from the South, as is hers, so slavery is a subject both of our families know well. We love each other like sisters, we are closer than sisters, but this is one area we don’t go. I wish she would see this and listen to Thomas Sowell...we are both college educated, successful, but when slavery is brought up we can’t discuss it. (My family came from Ireland as bonded servants, literally slaves themselves)

Hispanic male here - started in urban New Jersey (Jersey City) -- none of this was taught. When we moved to rural Pennsylvania (right across the river, "the Poconos") one of my favorite subjects was Civics / History / Social Studies (yeah, hardly taught nowadays) and our teacher would answer any question to the best of their ability. This was brought up -- and I will never forget the feeling I felt the first time (after finding out the true history) there was someone sitting there and trying to explain things away from a point of being woefully undertaught in the subject. Knowing damn well that people will not take a few minutes of their time to learn up on things that ACTUALLY happened and would rather just live in a lie. Keep on fighting the fight Van - I can FEEL your disappointment at finding out the truth after living a whole dang life at this point. Just imagine the amount of fight left to get the word out there.

As a young white teen -the early seventies in the deep south when they integrated the schools I remember the news expecting trouble and fights at the school. It was tense the first week then everyone seemed to get along just fine. My Dad was military and we lived on base housing which was very diverse always, we were raised proper to not judge by color/race and we all played baseball and rode bikes etc together with black kids, asians and hispanics . We enjoyed learning about each others culture and laughed at each other. We had neighborhood picnics with every color. My Dad was the squad commander at work and his best friend was black and so our family's would go to the lake together and we danced and had a great time. I think it just depends on the environment and attitude you are raised in on how you view color. In the late seventies we all went to concerts together and never had any troubles. I hate the way things are now, I think the influencers purposely cause division and I hate it!!

When I was young I learned about slavery in the states with stories like “Harriette Tubman”. When I was older I learned about the Barbary Pirates from the Barbary Coast….it was years later still before I learned that the Barbary Pirates ( who took slaves from England, Ireland, Scotland etc. ) where actually Black Muslims from North Africa. They are the reason England began to build ships and became the power house and were able to say that “The Sun Never Sets On The British Empire”.

Absolutely correct, the Queen of England back in the 14th century was called the Queen's Reich, the British Court advertised slaves as cheap labor and that is why clipper ships started coming to America manned by slavery. They morphened into the Democrat party & disarmed & killed all the Indians. They voted to keep their disarmed slaves on the plantaions and now these same damn Descendants from the British Crown are trying to disarm us all again.

I've always been astonished why some Americans of African heritage and descendants of slaves would want to adopt Muslim names and embrace their religion. Yes, Sowell's writings should be, but it won't because he is a conservative's conservative. He thinks straight and clearly. The Left only wants "feel good" Hedonism. They don't want substance. They just want "anything goes". America is done because it no longer follows reason and reasonable people. Sowell is a national treasure, but we will ignore him at our own damn peril

@FBA STATESMEN White supremacists will always disagree, but so will black racists and racists of every ilk. I have listened to you for a few days now and you’re trying to sound as if you have a morally higher position, but you use divisive words to spout out your tenuous ideas. It sounds to me that you’re a separatist like the people you want to label, “white supremacists”. In this world, we will never see perfection in human terms. There will always be evil men and women, there will always be bad ideas, deadly consequences and disappointment because human beings are fallible and broken. That’s one thing we can count on, but the other thing we can count on is the redemptive work of Christ who has overcome all of this madness. Let’s stop name calling without knowing someone’s heart or motives. I see your motives to an extent and the labels you’re laying on others seems to be the same spirit. Don’t be the exact same thing as those you’re trying to denounce. And in so doing, you only end up denouncing yourself.

There will NEVER be an excuse for slavery or discrimination regardless of whom it is being done to or done by. It disgusts me that it is a part of our human history and that it still continues in any instance today. However, my greatest wish is that we can heal the wounds of the past and continue to improve by being kind to each other and educating ourselves. Van, you have got to check out a fantastic book by a man named James Loewen called "Lies My Teacher Told Me." The author is an esteemed professor of history at Ole Miss university. The book is a survey of the 12 different US History textbooks in use at the time of the books publication, and a list of all the things they get wrong, whether deliberately with an agenda in mind, because of idiot textbook review boards in various states, or simply by repeating ignorance that they were told that doesn't hold up to the actual historical record. It would shock you how different the real story is from what so many of us read in our textbooks. I would send you a copy, but they haven't passed that $22 minimum wage yet. LOL

When my white ancestors traveled to America, they settled in Alaska. My great, great grandparents on my grandma's side were poor Finish farmers. I'm just a simple, single, "white" mom that was raised in Alaska. I didn't learn the term "black" or "white" until I moved to Oklahoma when I was 23. I appreciate very much what you are doing by bringing this information out in the open. I am an old white guy and I assure you that this was not taught in school when I was young. I grew up in a house where my dad was racist and so that had an impression on me and I had racist tendencies as a result. I grew up in the suburbs in a lower middle class neighborhood, with no interaction with blacks until I got to high school. This kind of situation keeps you in a bubble, unable to reach an informed and unbiased view of people you don't really know. I went into the service at 18 and immediately came in contact with a lot of guys from very different back rounds, both black and white. This taught me to judge people based on their character and not anything else. At some point each of us has to become accountable for our own actions and can no longer fall back on "dad said", or "dad did". Then later in life I became a Christian and realized that we all came from Adam and Eve, so we are all "one" race, the human race. My ancestors are from Germany, but I'm not a German-American, just American, our insistence on putting a prefix at the beginning of our "chosen" identity only leads to more division. It's a tool used by people (political parties and activists) to keep us at odds with each other, highlighting our differences instead of what we have in common! Keep up the good work and God bless you.

I have known this information about slavery for over 20 years. When I have tried to tell people about this, I have been insulted and shamed for even saying it. There were even balck slave owners in the US. After slavery was abolished, there was a black slave owner that continued to own slaves through endentured servitude, which is a way of still owning slaves by naming it something else.

@@jonjones7137 Thank God for Malcolm X and Marcus Garvey. I am sick of these types of videos. What is the purpose of this video and who does it serve. Answer, It serves those apologist for crimes committed. They seem to think that it somehow exonerates the perpetraters. The question to really ask is who sets up the school curriculum that distorts history. Back in slavery days a gifted black man with a degree of influence would be given a script by his white masters to keep the more radical blacks subdued, apply this to modern day youtubers, especially the ones that actively seek positions amongst whites. I woul recommend a book by Frantz Fanon called Black Skin, White Masks.

The really sad part is I have had arguments with family about the origins of slavery and how slavery still exists today and they don't believe me and refuse to research anything. Some people just seem to enjoy staying in that angry state of mind. I feel we, as human beings, should be working together to make sure that slavery is abolished everywhere, FOREVER! I appreciate your content and the more people, like yourself, who stay strong with the truth, the more people who will eventually become open to the truth.

@@JmacMAC the terminology has been changed to human trafficking. And it does exist by and large. People who speak against it, particularly prominent people who speak against it, turn up dead, under mysterious circumstances or a bit too coincidentally. It's a huge and profitable business. Another word for slavery is some forms of religion, like scientology, hillsong church... There are plenty of horror stories on youtube about that. Take your pick. Hell, mail order brides are basically slaves with a better option of escape if they can hold out till the citizenship comes through. Many times, pimped out by their own family.

I'm interested in history. I had a great teacher in grade school and one in high school. The Ottoman empire sent pirates out to take over American ships and made the crew slaves. They worked them in rock quarries, using picks. Any work that needed to be done. They were treated horribly. The ones that worked building homes and other buildings were castrated if they were going to be in contact with women even though women were clothes that covered them. If prisoners were sons and daughters belonged to rich people they would notify them for how much family ransom they would pay. I forgot to say that the females captured, if beautiful she went into the harmen ,if not she was a slave doing whatever she was told to do. President Jefferson started putting soldiers on ships that traveled over in the Mediterranean. They could fight and help keep ships from being taken. This was our first Marines. I've written too much.

Except with the US, it was the FIRST country to talk about life, liberty, and freedom...yet those things were NOT for everyone in the country. It was ONLY for white men that owned land in the beginning. How did black people who came to the US as free become SLAVES near the end of their lives? It wasn't anything that they specifically did. They followed the rules and laws, and even owned land...yet were forced into slavery in the US.

I'm with you. Raised that all people were just people, regardless of color or nationality. Too many in politics love spreading hate & division & there are too many listening to it or using it to their advantage. The truth needs to be taught, but then the politicians would have to find something else to "use" just to get votes. They forget that they are employed by citizens to do what is best for citizens. They're concerned for themselves instead of us, their oath of office, the Constitution & the country. We definitely need term limits, wage decrease for them & they need to pay for their own retirement, like those they're supposed to represent & have the same health care & options that we have access to. Also 6 months of pay after leaving office. No more lifetime pay. No politicians in office or family members allowed to "trade" . They aren't put in office to take advantage of the system & get rich while they're there. They're overpaid as it is, they don't need any better medical insurance & care than those they serve or taxpayer money used to set them up for the rest of their lives. They're there to serve, not take advantage of. It was not set up this way & it needs to revert back to how it was originally. No more giving themselves raises. A lot needs to be changed. Jmo

Your question definitely deserves an honest answer. Yes, most of us" white folks " are sick & tired of this division. By far most of my interfaces with folks of any other ethnic group, are by far positive. Slavery is a blight on Americas past. As painful as it is, it must remain, so we never forget. Yet forgetting seems to be exactly what we are doing. Trading in our freedoms for thoughts of marxism , socialism. You can never be free under any of these other alternatives. America may not be perfect, but it is the best there is. Mr. Elder, Candace Owens are really starting to make headway on bringing the message to the forefront. Just like yourself. I had very high hopes for Ms. Klacick, I really believed if anyone could've brought Baltimore back, it would of been her. Good luck to you and your show.
