Cops always say "oh you can just get the bodycam" but when you go to the police department to get the bodycam footage all of a sudden it's lost, they can't find it, they know nothing about it. They send you to another department or they want to charge you a lot of money for it. I'm glad they did their own recording. Always record the police.

The cops even said on video that the restaurant had that right. If they refuse to leave when service is refused, it’s a police matter. No business can refuse on the basis of race BUT since they served them an entire dinner with them already being Black, that will be difficult to prove.

People who refuse to leave in a descent time frame are called squatters. Just because music was playing does not mean the tables were expected to turn into a lounge venue for cocktails. The music was intended to be ambiance. The restaurant should be communicating with them that they have another reservation at that table so they’re aware to be respectful. @@kwilson4125 Nonsense. When a restaurant has live music, people usually stay a while to listen. While they are there, PEOPLE WILL BUY ADDITIONAL DRINKS OR FOOD. THAT makes up for any "occupation" of the table and the added tips. Besides, waitstaff usually works MORE THAN ONE TABLE. They are assigned to a given area, so there is no loss of tips. And places that have live music usually have "seatings" or "shows" and the patrons are told about this IN ADVANCE when they make their reservation and that the show is over when the "set" is over. If people stay, they are charged another Cover Charge. These folks weren't told any of this. Old-Fashioned discrimination, is exactly what this was. A blast from the horrific past of the Jim Crow Era. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope this dive loses its license to operate. All People of Color should boycott the place.

Im a server. Have been for 16 years along with having 2 businesses. But ive never had a problem with anyone who come in our restaurant and sit for hours. I feel like when people go out to have lunch or dinner and even breakfast they do it because its free time. And they wanna enjoy it with the company that they come with. You never know what people have going on or are going through. Ive had a table sit for 5 hours and walked out leaving a 400 tip. Stop running away paying customers. That’s all fine and good. But our people need to have a standard of excellence! I’ve patronized our people restaurants and they charged us 45.00 for a buffet and the food was old. We asked for fresh food and they tried too play on our intelligence by putting their old food in hot grease to heat it up and we were so dumb that we didn’t know the difference between fresh and recycled food. They didn’t know in our party, there were chefs and they refused to return our money. So, I’m all for supporting our people, but our people has to come correct. I won’t support terrible customer service or terrible food!

Not really the crime was a false police call. Public servants working in Law 7:50 enforcement not security guards. Should have refused to trespass unless they want a false police report being filed and restaurant’s employee whocall cuffed and arrested. so my friends and i went to this exact location a just few weeks back in FULL costume after a convention to visit our friend who worked there in the coffee area. i also will say we did not look fancy, we’re horror cosplayers if that gives you any idea. they said NOTHING to us, we were there for a good 40 minutes chatting, and yes for the record we are all white. so this is genuinely sickening and i hope the people in charge lose their jobs.

9/19/23 - I have been trying to reach this restaurant by phone for the last 5 hours and 45 minutes. It is clear that they are not answering their phones as a result of Roland Martin’s reporting. I truly wanted to have a personal word with the owner or the manager to let them know that after the Montgomery Brawl, African Americans are no longer going to accept the disrespect that we have kept a blind eye to this kind of disrespect for over 400 years. I will be contacting all of my family, friends and colleagues to boycott this restaurant. It has been proven that the best way to get businesses and people to listen is to have a large group to negatively effect their incoming dollars or reputation. So, come on people! Let’s join together and let one more racist realize that when they speak out, they will be heard by many. Then a response will be given by many.

I've been to a restaurant with live entertainment & a time limit for the table. The limit was given to us when the reservation was made. Time limits are usually posted, given during reservation, & you're not sat until all in your party arrive. Calling the police was not necessary AT ALL. As a former server for many years, I can tell you that restaurants make their money on the alcohol drinks and extras that are sold and sure, even a few big tickets items on the menu. Plus $600 for their group meal means they probably paid more than the average dining guest would have for the same time spent at that table. Also I heard there was LIVE entertainment which means typically people stick around to watch/listen to the performance.

I'm not from there, but if Dining Guests were paying $600.00 for 5 meals, (if I had a Restaurant), they could enjoy their evening until Closing time if they were to choose to do so. The Owner's Son was extremely rude and disrespectful to these Paying, and well mannered Guests. The Restaurant failed to inform, in all information avenues that were available to these Guests, that there was a Seating Time Limit. If this Restaurant is so "upscale," there should be a Hostess at the Entrance who kindly informs their Patrons of their Policy at the time of their arrival.

Restaurants do that sometimes when there is a performer. In this case a group called take 5 was performing. In order for everyone waiting to get a chance to see the group, guest are cycled in and out when they are done eating. Dont know if this was the case at this restaurant, but it is something restaurants will do. Its a business, and guest sitting for 5hrs, will not be has profitable has guest sitting for an hr.

Florida is an extremely racist state; the NAACP also made light of this earlier this year. I'm from that area as well, unfortunately born and raised in Daytona Beach(but also spent time in the Orlando area). So I know the vibes there, and how to move. I left that area in late 2020 for California, and haven't look back since. In a short period of time living an amazing life and happily married. Believe you me, the difference is night and day.

Wow in the midst of humiliation the Blacks have to feel thanks that a cop didn't sock'em in the mouth, call his woman a name, or strike unabashedly to the knees, head, ribs, arm, limbs, bone, cheek and flesh anywhere with a night stick. Weird the Blacks are actually publically vocal and thankful for that to not have happened. This time? Strange ( meaning the Blacks in general; not this couple specifically. It's been said by other Black on occasions where police showed up, all of these thanks they didn't erect a whipping post and start beating the Blacks, thank goodness they were good cops, wow).

No , the police officers didn't handle it professionally because they allowed the business to relegate them to private bouncers . If the patrons aren't disorderly , they are buying food or drinks , and if there aren't a clearly posted table time for customers then the police should have informed the establishment that they do not have the authority to remove them from the property . I notice that mostly white police officers are too willing to engage in these type of actions when involving Black people in these businesses by citing " It's private property " bullshit . Government officials are not to be a willing participants in using their authority to enforce discriminatory treatment at businesses . Again , if they were not being disorderly and they were continuing to purchase service and there are no visibly posted table rules then the police should have turned around and left the establishment to address real crimes and violations . If the establishment chooses to stop servicing them then fine , but they better have a damn good reason as to why .

The police are not private bouncers . If the patrons are not being disorderly , they are still purchasing service , and if there are no visibly posted table rules then the police have no authority to get involved . But I notice it is the white police officers that are too willing to over step their authority in acting as private bouncers for businesses when concerning Black customers . This incident was a Civil problem between customer and business and not a criminal problem and the police officers should have known this and excused themselves out of the matter . If the establishment chose to stop servicing them and the customers remained at the table orderly until closing then fine , that is what it'll have to be . But the business better have a damn good reason as to why they refused service to those particular customers . The police using the reason " It's private property " is bullshit . Government officials are not to be willing participants in using their authority in enforcing businesses request that possibly violates people's Civil Rights or Constitutional Rights . A business that services walk in patrons are considered semi private property and it is not held at the same level of private property as someone personal resident . Regardless how polite the police were their actions were an abuse of their authority 😡 . The could of said " You boys going to have to leave " and it would have easily aligned with their actions .
