Sato , one of the coolest characters in fiction..

The actor playing him was terminally ill, he bought *everything* to the performance - despite his size, he just absolutely exuded menace. Not in a comedic, kung-fu movie style - but as a mean, stone-cold, dead-eyed killer.

this movie is full of good clues about many topics, the music, the action, the plot, the atmospheres...all is perfect! one of the best movies ever made, and absolutely the best of ridley scott's. no one ever painted so well the differences between the two cultures...just incredibly beautiful movie!

I remember I was a teenager when I first saw the movie... I even bought the VHS tape and watched the movie over and over. I guess more than 40 times during the years. Time has passed and this movie and soundtrack is still one of my favorites of all times. Really a masterpiece!

This score was an amazing high point of Hans Zimmer's brilliant work on Ridley Scott movies. Steve Lukather, the awesome guitarist from Toto, played on "I'll Be Holding On" and other parts. Great movie, great music.

I first saw this movie in the early 90s, 1991 believe. I had the VHS version of it. I must have seen it as many times as you have. And it has been more than a decade since I have seen it. But I am craving to see it.

I've never seen so much smoke in a movie. A great action thriller, so 80s. Perfect music, superb acting, cool villain and Michael Douglas is AWESOME.

This was definately one of the most powerful films I have ever seen (among others, which I will not name). Reminds me of the good days back in the 80s - life was a lot happier then and better. Long live Ken Takakura (always has been a great symbol of Japan) and Hans Zimmer for his brilliant work. Great times watching the DVD over and over!

Great film, and great actors, including Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia, Ken Takakura a great Japanese actor, and along with Yûsaku Matsuda another great Japanese actor who was suffering from pancreatic cancer while filming the movie, and even thought he was in great pain from the decease, he finished filming this great movie... I miss the 1980's...

It's not among Ridley Scott's best, but it's still a solid action drama. The score alone is head and shoulders above most music in action movies nowadays - really emotional and memorable. Good music is always a big plus in my movie experience.

The 80s, where did they go? Not that I was alive during them, but still...just from the music and the movies, they sound friggin awesome.
@gordonfree31046 жыл бұрын
@Euskalbikoizketak6 жыл бұрын

this movie is one of the major reasons I moved to Japan though I only have a little less than a year left of my stay here. I lovelovelove Black Rain and Yusaku Matsuda and Ken takakura. Yes a masterpiece !!!! Somehow linked "in spirit" with Sidney Pollack's The Yakuza.... In my opinion Zimmer's best soundtrack (still got it on audio cassette) I wonder, however, what the "director's cut" version would look like... So many options were left in 1989 for a sequel. Unfortunately Scott didn't make one. Unfortunately Takakura San, Matsuda San, Wakayama San, Kõyama San, Yasuoka and others passed away now... may they rest in peace... A masterpiece indeed!!!!
