i saw them in Detroit in 75...in 76, and 1978. I cant stress to you enough of how much this band was hated back then. All 3 shows i saw were at Cobo Arena..the 75 and 76 shows, the place was barely half full..the 78 show was jam packed, and only because Van Halen was the opener. Back then, they were hardly ever played on the radio, and if they did, it was always Paranoid or Iron Man. I was a huge fan back then, yet all my friends and people i knew just hated them. Warner Brothers hardly promoted them...each album always sold almost the exact same numbers. They were a cult band...and you either loved em or hated them. Thats why is was not a shock to learn that Randy Rhoads did NOT like them at all...and he hated playing the few songs with Ozzy. But thats just the way it was back then. And now they are more revered than ever...strange.

Not just the '70s.. I saw Original Sabbath 3x during the real reunion, between '99 and 2005.. The first one was the greatest concert l ever experienced. The second time, Ozzy had fallen off the wagon and was too destroyed to function properly loll. 3rd time was great again..

I saw Black Sabbath in 72 ,75 and 77 original members but in 1980 September 26th Charlotte coliseum Heaven and Hell tour was their best performance along with Feb 16th and 26th Greensboro and Charlotte NC coliseum Mob Rules tour those reunion shows for Ozzfest were a greatest hits package not really anything new except for Scary Dreams that featured Tony Iommi soloing.
@nodaysback8390
@nodaysback8390 3 ай бұрын
@richardhincemon Not sure what you mean or why you wud refer to the reunion tours as a greatest hits package? If you saw those shows, you left those dates off the list of the other shows you saw.. Of course they played a bunch of their best known songs.. Why wouldnt they? They played B-cuts like Sleeping Village, Electric Funeral, Dirty Women, Wall Of Sleep and Spiral Architect, too. But, they never played Scary Dreams at any of the shows l saw.. including the 1997 show that didnt include Ward on drums, which l didnt bother mentioning because it wasnt Sabbath without him.. nor was the Born Again show with Ian Gillan and Bev Bevan in '82 at the Nassau Coliseum.. Both good shows, but not Sabbath.

They probably invented heavy metal but they didn't play heavy metal. Their music is more than that. It's very hard rock, it swings and it grooves (special thanks to to Mr. Butler and Mr. Ward). And it's got a bluesy and jazzy feel, too. So much more than just heavy meral 🙂

its unbelievable just how good they are. i discovered them about four months ago and its all i've listened to since. at the gym, at work, walking anywhere, at school, in the car with my girlfriend or sister. i've never been a big vinyl collection guy but i just had to have master of reality and the self titled to display in my room. it just speaks to me like no other medium. i think a lot of their "doom" stuff is still relevant, if not more, to this day.

I’ve watched a few of these and they’re absolutely great because you get to see the guys in their primes as young men but I actually prefer the Reunion album to everything live they’ve ever done. What Ozzy’s voice lacked, which was only a little back then, everything else about that album made up for. He still sang pretty good and the guys were motivated to play again, and they were sober, from the hard stuff anyway. They hadn’t been those 2 things together since way before they broke up.

Maybe. But he had some amazing nights on the last two tours. People tend to find the worst on KZbin and think it represents much beyond an "off-night" for an old guy with who knows how many health problems, but he's had some sensational nights in recent years as well. On the last show I saw in Oakland he was positively fantastic. Not like 1974 fantastic, but damned good and certainly on par with most of his peers in terms of being able to get it done at such a late stage in the game.

He was & is awesome! “The mighty Bill Ward” Ps. Was he Bonzo? No! no one was! But he was perfectly perfect for Black Sabbath! He’s a GREAT drummer! All I hear is Jazz when he plays, f…ing awesome!

I wanna be born in exactly 1964 where I could grow up in the 70s and 80s and the music was good and I wasn't made fun of for it I'm literally jus like everyone else jus my music taste is different but NO I was born in 2008

1964 the year I was born wish I was born maybe a couple years earlier but at least I was able to see original SAB on the never say die tour and Pink Floyd The Wall Queen Jazz Tour Ozzy w/ Randy Sab w/Gillan US Festival among a gang of others...but yeah i empathize w/ you but at least there's you tube to ease the pain !!! Although NO video can really touch on the experience The Wall was. With Sab there is no where near the amount of live stuff there should be but at least we have the 1970 gig and the beat clubs and Cal Jam and Don Kirschner's...
