Ozzy may miss some notes but his enthusiasm makes up for it. I can't believe they didn't release this back then. It would have been huge!
@stephenchristopher9991 Жыл бұрын
I see comments of OZZY being "out of key". Where? Seriously??? Maybe a few notes. But very few. His vocal is SAVAGE in this performance and 99.9% IN key and ON point! Geez, did Robert Plant never hit a bad note in concert?? This performance is amazing from every member.

What I wouldn't give to have been alive during this generation. The sound quality is superb for 1975. It doesn't surprise me that they sounded this great live. I saw the '98 reunion tour, they were fucking amazing. Thanks for posting these...very cool!!!

I saw them in Asbury Park at the oceanfront auditorium in the Summer of 1972, so 3 years before this was recorded at the same exact location. Intro group was Black Oak Arkansas. Ticket cost $6.00. Second row. The girl to the left of me spent more time in the air than standing on the ground during the show. Those were the days, my friend.

Started listening to Sabbath in '71, when I was 13 or 14, because they were the BEST of the BEST(and there were ALOT of REALLY good bands jamming during the '70s)! NOW, in 2019, I Iisten to BLACK SABBATH not only because I STILL think that they were and are, the BEST; but since Peter Steele died in 2010 (and Type O Negative with him) there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE!!!!!?

4 months too late, but I pretty much agree with you. I'm not big into live albums, which is funny considering how much live music I put up in my channel, but I think this would of been one of the best live albums of all time had it been released in 75/76. Even now, if this was officially released, I think it would sell great. Past Lives is an abomination compared to the complete Asbury Park show.

I love this song. Thanks for posting. What a great version. I think it's funny they were playing supertzar before the band came on stage. I love Sabotage, but that's one song that got me up out of my chair to pick up the needle and move it to the next song.

Wow I remember when I started to listen to this classic band. I was 12 years old watching California Jam in 74. Buy the time I was 14, I had all the albums. I remember In Concert that night on channel 7. I just knew this band was going to last over the years.
@spacecowboy195616 жыл бұрын
i saw sabbath in '74,'76,&'78 and as the band hit the stage in '76 &'78,a recording of supertzar plays as the guys hit the stage
As much as I love Sabbath, some times I think their really picky as to what songs they release for a live album. This song and the 15 others posted from this concert would have made a great live album. Great performance, 5/5 stars.

FYI : This song *with video* from their performance in Santa Monica about a month after the Asbury concert from the same tour which aired later that year on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert can be viewed on KZbin as well... people never understand the one pedal that gave Tony THIS tone that he favored from 1972/73 on. and no, i don't mean the Dallas Rangemaster....can anyone else guess?? i cant find any info but i can hear it so easily and don't get why nobody else can but hes definitely using one almost 99.9% of the time by 1975
@jimfolkers84638 ай бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. His live tone sounded different. If I had to guess, I could be wrong. It sounds like he's using a chorus pedal. Zakk wylde uses a chorus pedal for his live performances, but with alot more chorus effect. The chorus gives you a bigger sound or even a doubled guitar effect when using it with distortion.
@LSUOdyssey8 ай бұрын
EXACTLY! he's using some kinda custom made Leslie speaker emulator or a very early chorus unit, it sounds incredible@@jimfolkers8463

@oakley1234567 No kidding man. Iommi's tone here is so damn heavy that if I was in the audience I might think the world was ending. Good God that's awesome. Ozzy seems a bit off, but not too bad.

wlmason73 yes dude this concert would have been fucking righteous dude the damn thing is so heavy but I think ozzys voice might just be a tad off but man he still sounds damn good man I loved his earlier sabbath voice and just Sabbath with ozzy in general cause Sabbath was NOT Sabbath with dio sorry to the duo fans out there he’s good he just wasn’t Sabbath good he didn’t fit

I agree it's not a great album track, but for a concert opener, it's great. It has that ominous, militaristic feel. Sabbath has used it off and on since '75, particularly on their remaining tours with Ozzy, the Heaven and Hell tour with Dio, most of the Born Again tour, the Eternal Idol tour, the Cross Purposes tour, and occasionally with Ozzy after the Reunion. I like it better than E5150 and Ave Satini, which they've used in the past.
@blacksabfan14 жыл бұрын
@bleekblock 1. I'm talking about Supertzar, not Killing Yourself to Live, since the person I responded to brought it up. 2. When I say "Heaven and Hell" tour, I mean the one in 1980-81, not the 'band' Heaven and Hell. Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing.

@koeienboei Considering Geezer Butler wrote 98% of Sabbath's lyrics when Ozzy was in the band, shouldn't he be the one deserving of your accolades? And nevermind Daisley's lyrical contributions to those first several Ozzy solo records....
@notrelevant42126 жыл бұрын
Well it was closer to 78% of the lyrics, and depending on how you look at the process of writing lyrics then maybe even less
