The whole album was Sabbath's take on glam metal (hair metal), a genre then-former lead singer Ozzy Osbourne moved into at this time as well. Unlike Sabbath, Ozzy stuck with hair metal for three albums (The Ultimate Sin, No Rest for the Wicked, and No More Tears), and also unlike Sabbath, the move to hair metal produced a top 40 hit for Osbourne in the form of a ballad, "Mama, I'm Coming Home", which peaked at #28 in 1992 (he also guested on Lita Ford's "Close My Eyes Forever" in 1988, which peaked at #8).

I would love to see Seventh Star, Born Again, and The Eternal Idol as a "Warner Brothers" label box set with each album remastered by Mr. Iommi. Take my money for it right now! 🙂
@johnbon64 ай бұрын
Technically, a whole different label owns The Eternal Idol. They going to include it in the Tony Martin box set and couldn't, since the other label and company was unwilling. Plus that had already been remastered by Tony once before, with the Ray Gillen demos included. Born Again has been remastered in a deluxe edition aswell. This album was done aswell in 2010.

@@johnbon6Remastering and remixing are two totally different things. Born Again might have already been remastered but Tony has stated numerous times he plans on remixing it.

@@johnbon6they could be released through the rhino imprint of warner as eternal idol was warner as well as born again and 7th star. and universal else where a deal could be made easily. i even think tony could have theoretically gotten eternal idol on the martin era box set due to the Irs era stuff being reissued under rhino(warner). and the dehumanizer album was similar to the martin irs era stuff as it was warner release everywhere but i believe uk and possibly europe.

@@Hzim007 This is hardly their worst. Glenn's singing and Tony's playing set this album ahead of most of the Tony Martin records, especially the terrible Forbidden and Cross Purposes. Sabbath doesn't always have to sound like doom and gloom. This is Sabbath with soul.

I almost forgot Sabbath, ... I had some listenings in the late 70s, from Sabotage 'til Never Say Die. Then Live Aid '85. I wondered about the video of No Stranger To Love. Who is the singer, I thought. Great singer, some different to the wild heavy Ozzy stuff. And then I saw the Madman in that video for Ultimate Sin, ... light dawned on me. I 'm from the GDR and didn't have much informations about the history of this band; just the music. Yet I know it, of course.
