Nobody can write a love song as heavy as Black Sabbath. And Rick Wakeman (virtuoso keyboardist for the band Yes) was asked to lend his talents to this song.

Rick Wakeman from Yes on synth and piano. Supposedly Wakeman was next door doing Tales from Topographic Oceans and was totally fed up w/ the pretentiousness of that album, wanted to hang out, drink some beers, and play with some down to earth rocker folks (the Sab boys from Birmingham). Nice extra sizzle on top of a great song.

You could never take the Birmingham out of Black Sabbath - literally the middle of England, it was surrounded by every sound in the country. A British/Irish guitar sound opens the track. Might have been one of his Laney amps, but Tony gets a Vox 30 sound for a bouncy riff that could have been a Yardbirds player, Rory Gallagher, Brian May, Thin Lizzy w/Gary Moore .. what a sound.

Back then, Black Sabbath was like an animal all of their own. A good comparison, I would say, would be like Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down became in that timeframe; they were unicorns. They didn't sound like The Who, they didn't sound like Led Zeppelin, and they didn't sound like _anyone_ during that time in our history of music. They were sort of like David Bowie in that they were so different that some people didn't know how to understand how great they were at that time. My college Rock & Jazz teacher told us that the test of great musicians came from how they lasted through time. And we can see that with Sabbath and guys like David Bowie, in that they were misunderstood during real time, and later, people-at least the people who are smart enough to notice-were great musicians. Black Sabbath has so many blues influences that I'm amazed to this day that more people don't see it. But at least you guys have seen it and are pointing it out. I met Bill Ward once. He walked into a restaurant when I sat at the bar... his daughter worked there. He came into the place once a week, the bartender told me. And on that day a week later, I wore my Black Sabbath T-shirt and waited for him to come into the place. And as I drank my beer, the bartender said, "Hey, there he is," and I swirled my barstool around, noticed he was with his wife, and threw up the horns 🤘, and he nodded my direction, and gave me back the 🤘, and that's all we said... it was one of the coolest moments of my life.

One of my favorite Sabbath tunes!!! PURE 🔥 Love the happy and reckless intro with the sudden change to that slowed down funk groove with Rick Wakeman from YES on keys. Then the bonus funky jam with extended vamping till it just falls apart at the end. One of (if not THE) only straightforward love songs from the Sabbath here, the kinda song that’ll get rocker couples stopping to shoot eyes at each other. “Hold up, girl.. c’mere let me look at you a minute..” 😜

This bluesy paean to Geezer’s then-girlfriend had its lyrical origins in Ozzy repeating porno dialogue, to his bandmate’s amusement. Rick Wakeman charged Sabbath a ‘fee’ of two pints of Director’s bitter for his incandescent piano playing. - Loudersound

GREAT reaction gents!! I've been waiting for this - and you didn't disappoint. This one places in my top 5 Sabbath tunes (N.I.B. being #1)! It has such a groove to it, impossible not to get sucked in! Everyone was firing on all cylinders here. I love that psychedelic middle 8 section with the keys - so un-Sabbath like, but it works so well! It's unfortunate that this track isn't more well known - cause it's a banger in all respects! Cheers.
