Fun fact ;) The very beginning of the song is a loop of Tony Iommi actually coughing on a joint. How does anyone not enjoy this song!
@otg1sl5 жыл бұрын
It actually was actually a bong hit that caused him to start coughing, not a joint. There is a video floating around that Iommi himself said that...
@jonlate45814 жыл бұрын
It was definitely a joint that Tony and Ozzy were smoking. It's been well documented by both of those guys

@andrethomas70965 жыл бұрын
damn straight that's ya boy gettin down
@jacklanam8255 жыл бұрын
Wut? I love Sabbath, but this is not a good song for Bill Ward. That solo section was some of his sloppiest drumming. Tempo wavered throughout and he needed the band to find the 1 for him. I always joke that he'd smoked too much sweet leaf before recording this song. If you want to talk Bill Ward, then you should use War Pigs for an example, not this one.
@robertmanning67855 жыл бұрын
@@jacklanam825 I can't argue with you I don't understand the technical side of drumming, but I like his style!
@jacklanam8255 жыл бұрын
@@robertmanning6785 to be fair; the point of that section was to go crazy and rock out. That he certainly did with reckless abandon. The problem with that is a natural tendency to rush the tempo and jam as many notes in as possible. He mostly held it together while Tony was wailing on the guitar, but when the drum breaks came he spazzed out. LOL. I'm not saying he's a bad drummer. I wouldn't rank him top 5, but you certainly can according to your taste. No doubt Sabbath as a group were pioneers that inspired countless musicians. True legends. While I don't rank Bill high on my list of drummers, I will say that what he did was a good fit for Sabbath's style...which is the important thing here.
@MichaelOrthodoxChristian4 жыл бұрын
@Jack Lanam Bill's work is the perfect fit, in keeping with the spirit of the track, highly innovative and full of heavy creative and natural feel and to top it he swings like a bastard. There is no "problem", and the feel and free spirit of Sabbath cannot be bettered with 'correct' tempo or some beige notion like that. Current wholesale pop tracks are produced like this and we all know how lifeless they turn out

I got ahold of this album left by my uncle Dan back in the Philippines in the early 70s. I’ve never heard of this group till then. I played it and when the coughing started, my dad yelled, “you alright out there!?” I’m mid 50s now and this song brings me back to that moment. My Dad and Uncle has since passed. I miss them both. Funny how music takes you back. Uncle Dan was a Vietnam Vet, an influencer of my military service. Thanks for posting. It’s wonderful to see that you share commonalities in music. God Bless

I like your channel! Very entertaining... Sabbath is a unique band that forever changed rock and roll, transforming it into metal, doom, almost indescribable music. The four musicians, Ward, Butler, Iommi, and Osbourne were perfection! I was at their show with two buddies on Aug 19, 1980, Chicago's International Amphitheater (long since torn down). Sabbath blew the roof off, helped by some hits of mickey mouse window pane (lsd). And, the opening band was Van Halen!! A night I still remember like yesterday. Black Sabbath, the timeless one and only.

Also, you should do some more Ozzy with Randy Rhoads like, "Flying High Again" or "You Can't Kill Rock N' Roll" or "Suicide Solution". I know I am not supposed to request here, but I am.
