Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums) were one of the most formidable rhythm section in the history of music. They knew how to swing, a very unusual sound for rock at the time

They were still experimenting with a few of the lyrics here. This is somewhere in Paris in 1970. Ozzy was 20 or 21. Tony Iomni (guitarist) cut the tips of 2 of his fingertips off the last day he worked in a factory. Doctors told him he'd never play again. He created prosthetic fingertips for himself because he wasn't willing to give up music and they'd just formed Black Sabbath

I was lucky when i got to see Black Sabbath reunion concert in New York 1999. I was only 18. i still cant forget that. They are the grandfather of metal and a pioneer. I would suggest please react to iron Maiden. They are hands down one of the, if not THE best live band to watch. Their catalog is ridiculously huge and they are one of the most influential metal band of all time. I suggest The Clansman live at Rock in RIO 2001. Hallowed be Thy Name is likely their most famous song. You can literally pick any songs from any of their live concert and it will blow you away. Up The Irons

That's Geezer Butler on bass. Tony Ioni on guitar. I'm not sure of the drummer at this moment but it'll come to me. Anyway, I was a black boy from Watts?brought up on The Temptations mostly any 70s soul. Sabbath was my very first rock concert. Un fuckin believable. That was the start of my new outlook on rock and the many concerts I would experience over the next 20 years. By the way, I was the one who invited you down the rabbit hole. I just had to let Zepp set in and soak in before I mention other bands. I ended up a quite a few concerts. Geezer was the first bass player I was amazed. He was all over the place while Tony stood in one place and jammed. Ozzy was and still is off the hook !! An amazing show to start my rock and roll trip !!! And we were trippin none stop. Cooliest ride of my life at a critical time of my life. Some of the best times of my life

Their second album (a UK No.1 in the days when that was plausible) was going to be called 'War Pigs' until they had a hit single and so they named it after the single. It's a good job that didn't set a precedent, because they were never going to be churning out happy-go-lucky pop tunes on a regular basis. Apparently this track got feedback from Vietnam vets... I wonder why?...

Those drums were hitting me in the spine in the middle section. When you listen to rock, that's the function of the bass in a lot of ways, it's like the translator from the drums rhythm to the guitars pitch. Hey, I'm seeing people put the title in block letters over the video when it's an official vid to partially obscure it, might work.

Check out Primus! Les Coldplay and Primus is the only band that I know of that has ever used the bass as a lead guitar. Tom Morello is a genius on the bass as well rage against the machine was making sounds without anything manipulating it that others couldn't make by manipulating the sound. Two badass bands.

Another great and crazy drummer was Keith Moon of The Who.. I think he said he plays the melody on the drums.
