I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Sabbath is the foundation of metal music. Bill Ward, their drummer is a beast and their bassist, Geezer Butler inspired many of us the pick us the bass. I'd love to see you guys listen to entire albums, but I think that would prove to be a copyright nightmare, so I may just have to send you their albums. This was Black Sabbath's second album released in 1970, and in my opinion by far their best work. I saw them live and paid $7.00 dollars for third row seats from a guy needing to sell his tickets. I am not sure of the year, but it was early 70's. I went to a multitude of rock concerts in the late 60's and through the 1970's.

Most lyrics for Sabbath at this time were written by Geezer Butler (bassist), and the riffs/music were mostly by guitarist Toni Iommi. Trivia: When the band decided to quit their day jobs and go full-time, Toni thought about skipping his last day at the factory, but his mum convinced him to go. When he got there, another guy had called in sick and they put Tony on a machine that he'd never used before. During that last shift, his fingers were partially cut off.... yep. The fingers were on his right hand that he uses to play. He was devastated and thought about quitting. Then he learned about a famous guitar player that played with fingers actually missing. He thought - fuck it, and crafted some fake fingertips which he uses to this day. This situation actually turned out to become part of the Sabbath sound. He even restrung his guitar and used different tunings to make those fake fingers work better. True story.

What''s up young Men. I'm Hispanic so I grew up listening to R&B Soul, and Latin Music, then got into Jazz in my early 20's. I knew of some rock like Led Zeppelin and The Who but not too many other groups until I got older. I didn't listen to Black Sabbath until maybe 20 years ago in my 40's. I'll be 62 in a few months so my music is very diverse. Just to switch things up if you wanna see some 'World Class' Musicians, then watch a video called, 'The Roots of Coincidence' by The Pat Metheny Group or 'Romantic Warrior' by Return to Forever. You haven't experienced 'Next Level' musicianship until you get into Jazz. Not only Jazz but other genres like Tool. I never listened to them until I saw the 'Drum Cam' by Danny Carey. The dude is considered one ot the best drummers ever. Not surprising, he also plays in a Jazz Fusion Band. Peace in Northern Cali.

Yes a young Ozzy, early 20's. Black Sabbath came out of Birmingham, the equivalent of Steeltown Pittsburgh in the the sixties. Ozzy is recognized as one of the best singers to sing on time, clean, clear vocals. He sat in that bands pocket note for note and always on time. And he was pretty strung out then. Glad to see you guys react to the song and not the corny, modernized video that everyone else reacts to and only distracts the music. Back in the early '70s, music videos *for the most part,* did not exist. So, the songs weren't intended to be listened to while watching one. What often happens is some director who might not understand the song completely, has the most influence over the making of the video.. often results in videos that tell a different story than what the lyrics are saying between the lines. *Avoid videos for that reason, especially for old school songs.* Edit: 11:24 The guy on the left got it exactly right after hearing one song.. Nice! They have said many times that their music is not evil and doesn't promote or condone devil stuff... They said they were just the only ones daring enough to address the darker side of a lot of things when a lot of bands were singing about "free love with flowers in your hair." Having grown up in post WW2, bombed out Birmingham England, that wasn't reality to them. Their songs were about the side of things that usually got swept under the rug by the mainstream. Most often though, those songs usually ended with a message that peace and love and God was the answer.

Sabbath was all about feel...They were groove masters that found a pocket while projecting a slamming ethereal vibe. The esoteric lyrics of Geezer(bass) filled in the mythos. Lyrical as 19th-century expressionism with often overt Christian doctrine to dark magic, social-political rhymes, like and good sermon. This song could be played on soul train. The band shines light on the darkness with tri-tone funk...

SABBATH!! Total misunderstood band lyrically. As church goers like I, I highly suggest the next time to react to Sabbath you do lyric version of After Forever. My favorite rhythm section along with Stevie Ray's Double Trouble. Bill Ward's use of flams including flam paraddidles along with Geezer Butler's freestyle bass is just so damn good.
