“Her word will be the last word for this place.” This, with the callback to her speech about wanting Charlestown to burn, always reminds me of the little detail from season one. About how there were rumors she was a witch that controlled Flint’s actions. This, of course, isn’t true on a literal level. But moments like this show how it has a metaphorical truth all the same. This is like a spell they’ve cast together. Her words for Charlestown, her will that he will carry out. What gorgeous writing.

The look in Flint's eyes as he nods his head slightly to begin the attack is terrifying. His face lacks expression but his eyes show a man wanting to see the world in front of him burn. Great acting by Toby Stephens.

It's funny. Billy is the one who initially brings up torture to get Silver to reveal the entire schedule of the Urca de Lima and Silver responds by saying he has poor tolerance for pain and will say anything to make it stop. Billy has now suffered torture himself and would die before seeing anyone else go through what he did and Silver withstands the loss of a leg for the sake of the crew.
