So good to hear the creator himself of this iconic theme talking about how it was thought. You and your team of composers are brilliant! This video should have more views and recognition!

Really cool stuff. The way you detuned the piano. Like the piano has been in out in a ship for years with the wood expanding and contracting detuning it and parts of the piano filled with rust. Really cool stuff

Wow, that's devotion! Playing until the fingers are bleeding. And tuning it every single time, that must've taken forever!

The things you do to add color and soul to each of your scores it never cease to impress me! Man, you rock!

You have really interesting ideas for how to make the music fit the shows you do. Have you thought about using wooden planks for percussion instruments. Pirate ships are made of wood and there'd be guys slapping their feet on the decks all the time, and there would be creaking timbers and the thrum and twang of all the ropes...

Man, that is such a good idea!

You know, that actually WAS my inspiration for incorporating the bones into this score. I wanted to use them as a metaphor for the skull and crossbones imagery we associate with pirates. I didn't actually realize at the time there was already a tradition of playing bones, so in that regard I lucked out. A few blog entries ago I did a video about it, you can see them in action...

Doug Lacy! He's the guy Bear got to sing in the Angry Video Game Nerd christmas special in 2010, titled "How the Nerd Stole Christmas"! Awesome to see him again :D

I don't feel so strange anymore for sampling my parent's out-of-tune upright. It sounds just like this! The very low and high notes have an eeriness to them that I couldn't possibly re-create digitally. I especially like to do 'hits' with the low end, and then reverse them for a detuned and organic buildup.

How cool is that! You have so much content in your videos. I love it, oh my I do. I play piano and didn't ever think it could make your fingers bleed. Crazy.

I would love the tuning/tabs for that drop tuned distorted guitar track on the main theme.

I've a feeling a 7-string would help you there

Ah man I just assumed it was samples from the infamous Galactica piano. Turns out it was way more thought out than that!
